Yep, that's all you do. Just make sure 3 things are on a USB drive:
1. A rootfs. Debian, Ubuntu, Fedora, Gentoo, Slackware, and Plugbox distros all make these for ARM.
2. A kernel, /boot/uImage - get this either from the above distros or from sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva
3. Kernel modules - get this from sheeva.with-linux.com/sheeva and extract it to the USB drive.

So it was rather simple to install using the documentation provided, and other than some random issues when rebooting (Sometimes it boots into PlugBox, sometimes it doesn't) it's pretty sweet.
Problem is my limited (But growing) linux skills are based off my time using Ubuntu, so I'm more comfy with that. Arch looks fun, but I don't want to have to relearn things if I can help it.
From what I understand, the bootloader checks for a bootable USB drive, and if it's there it boots it...this is how PlugBox works. Can I setup a different drive with Ubuntu and just plug in which ever on I like to boot off it? And with none plugged in it'll boot the default PogoPlug linux...I like having that option always available to me.
I've downloaded the files for the SheevaPlug to use Ubunt 9.04, would that work with the PogoPlug? Do I just extract the files to a different drive and then plug it in and go? If so that would be too cool...and too simple ;) I'm gonna try that in the mean time, but any tips, info, or links would be much appreciated.
A quick tut on getting Ubuntu working would be nice, along with an explanation of step so people can learn what is going on :D
I would very much like to Use Ubuntu on my POGOPLUG. However I am not very versed in Linux and a Step by step tutorial would be great.
Since I don't want to make network changes at work just for the acception of my PP at home I may be interested in running a linux distro along with a vpn service such as hamachi on my PP. Look forward to any tutorials that may come out.
I followed this tutorial:
http://hideipology.com/installing-plugbox-linux/
It works, but you must read it carefully and follow it exactly - don't be tempted to skip any steps! It took me about two hours - I am new to linux.
A few tips:
*download putty to be able to 'talk' to you pogoplug.
*if you intend to use your pogoplug as a webserver then you want to put your html files in the http folder which is in the srv folder - this might be obvious to some people but if you are new to linux this can take you hours to figure out!
*I recommend the free webpage designing software Kompozer for designing your website. For image manipulation I use 'gimp' - dodgy name but fantastic free software.
Good luck :)
If you want to install a different os then edit this section in the aforementioned tutorial:
"Next, download and install Plugbox Linux (this is going to take awhile):
cd usbwget http://plugapps.com/os/1.1/Plugbox-Linux-1.1-rootfs.tar.gztar
-xzvf Plugbox-Linux-1.1-rootfs.tar.gz # this will take a long timerm Plugbox-Linux-1.1-rootfs.tar.gz"
Im not sure if you really need to install ubuntu, if you can explain why you want ubuntu on your pogo then I may be able to help further.
