I get this on my iphone too? No idea why this is happening??
Categories: Remote Access Software (Mac)
I deleted cedata file to "start fresh"
i keep getting connections error for photos folder
Having the same (or similar) issue on my iPhone. I'm trying to look at jpegs in a folder on the harddrive. I click on a file and get "Connection Error," no image.
Getting the same CONNECTION ERROR on iPad on my Pogoplug at home but the same iPad access all the same photos on our Pogoplug in the office
So the first post in this thread was June 8th. Has anyone filed a more formal error or bug to pogoplug? I picked up my pgp 2 days ago so we can access family photos across the net from the iPad. What a disappointment it doesn't work!
Hi
I think I know why When using PogoPlugHD on an iPad, image files names with spaces: my image.jpg will get the communication error message, the same file: myimage.jpg will display.
I just ran some test. on an iPad after loading files to my pogo plug drive (formatted Mac OS extended).
The funny thing is that image files with spaces in the file name work just fine in my iPhone.
This is a bug that has to be fixed by the PogoPlug crew....
Also using the Pogoplug app for the iPhone on the iPad will display images with spaces in file names. This is how it works for me. I hope this help, but still the bug has to be fixed.

I've sent a message to the company via the 'Official Support' page which seems to have fallen on deaf ears. The space in the file name may be OS specific. Being an ex-software developer, the space in file names (especially on *nix systems) can easilly fool poorly written code.
Hi
It is because you have blank spaces in your image files' names. for example: my image.jpg will give a connection error, but the same file written: myimage.jpg works fine, will display. Give it a try.
This only happens with image files, all other files work, Why? beats me , I think it is a bug that Pogoplug has to solve.

Yup - you're right.
If this was filed under 'known bugs and issues' I would've found it and worked around it some time ago. Unfortunately, it's been left to your good self to respond to my queries (thanks).
According to the pogoplug homepage, support exists 24/7 but I've never had a response to my questions / submissions. Do they exist?
PogoPlug is a real dissapointment. Viewing photos with my iPhone just dosn't work. I continue to get the "Loading" for over a minute followed by a blank screen.
What's even worse in that PogoPlug (the company) seems to not care. This problem has exeisted for a long time and I have not heard anything about a fix.
Come on PogoPlug WAKE UP or DIE!
Okay , I found a way around this .. though not the best picture quality .
if you go to Media settings on the web control panel and then select Generate photo and video thumbnails: As soon as possible. Then click on Apply below changes. The pogo will search for all your photos and make thumbnail pictures , which in turn will prevent a connection error but you do get only lower resolution pictures that are expanded on the ipad and not the original resolution on your hard drive attached to your pogo . Hope it helps

ditto. the set-up for the pogo pro is a breeze, i gotta say.
hope the company fixes the bug.
this is lame...concept is really cool but implementation and quality control of software is sloppy...please fix this pogoplug crew!
FYI, the web browser for the pogo works just fine. You can view/preview photos etc from within Safari on the iPad/iPhone. Yea, it's slower than a native app, but it gets past this bug.
I was unaware of this bug as well. I was just running into this issue and thought it was related to copying files to the drive via SMB. I started a re-scan to index the new photos I uploaded last night to see if that would solve it before I found this thread. Thanks for the info.
What/Who is dumber? Me for not doing good research before buying? Or Pogo for letting this .jpg problem continue for 2 years. People have be complaining about this same problem.
Heading to FRYS return dept. today!!
Hi Guys,
Photos on the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch can only be viewed if you have generated a thumbnail for them. If you have not done this, trying to view the photo will result in "Connection Error". Allowing the preview of images in their original format on iPhone and iPad is something we are looking into now. In the meantime, you can do the following to make sure you are able to view your photos:
- Log into your account via the Web UI
- Go to Settings -> Media Settings
- Select the drive on which you want to preivew photos on your iDevice
- Set "Generate photo and video thumbnails" to "As soon as possible"
- Click "Rescan"
Once the thumbnails are generated for your photos (which should complete very quickly), you will be able to view those photos on your iDevice
OKAY.... so I did try all the advice given to correct this problem and it did not work. However i did purchase a new Seagate 2 TB Ext. Drive and set up with Pogo and it is working fine. The kicker is I do not know why. SO? It is what it is.
