Even though the Pogoplug connects via your LAN, it isn't a NAS type device which will automatically share drives via SMB or what not. Rather, you need to install the Pogoplug Drive software on each computer you want to access the drives through the Windows Explorer/Mac OS X Finder and so on. Otherwise, you would access it through the web based interface.
When you share something with someone, they cannot share it with anyone else, but in theory they could send the link to someone else or just download the file and give it to someone else, so you should only share files with people you trust methinks.
I am sure it will all seem easy soon. However, I am new and trying to get my head round how it works. I have set up Pogoplug and can see and share as required. The Pogoplug is on a network. Why can't other PC's on the network see the Pogoplug without my having to explictly share? Isn't it just another device on the network?
I can share a folder with someone else on the network and I was hoping that this could be a work group folder under their control but they cannot share with someone else. Is that correct?
I have tried the share the whole drive with someone by adding their email but I cannot do this because it asks for a password that I don't have. Presumambly because they already have a Pogoplug login. How do I get round this?
Thanks for your help
