Transcode is a feature so you can copy your personal video to your Pogoplug drive and know your video will be viewable at my.pogoplug.com and on your iPhone.
By default, Pogoplug transcodes 10 seconds of video. After viewing the entire preview, the video should be transcoded in full.
Because you have already transcoded your video, you have the option to disable transcoding altogether and still view your video in full. Navigate to the Settings page>Media Settings>Settings sub-menu>select Never for video transcode.
By the way, have you already submitted a ticket to Pogoplug Support? Your description is very similar to a ticket already logged in Support.

Maybe someone here can explain this to me. Let me start by explaining what I've done up to this point. I have made all of my tv show videos web friendly by running them through Handbrake so they're pretty small. And then just to be sure, I had Pogoplug transcode those so I could stream on my iphone. Now here's what confuses me. When I try to play them on my iphone (trying with both with 3G and wifi), it loads (or buffers) the movie for a good 2 minutes at least and then starts to play. I maybe get 4 seconds in and then it stops and either has to buffer more or it just kicks me back to the directory. I've never once been able to stream ANY video other than a a minute or so. What baffles me is....
When I click on a video to play, is it playing the "transcoded" one, or my original file?
Does it matter on the iphone if I access a video from the library or go directly into my hard drive directory? Will it still locate and play the transcoded video in either case?
Some of the videos I've converted are in the M4V format. The iphone app seems to be mixed on it. Sometimes it plays for a few seconds, sometimes it doesn't and then most of the time it starts to play and then kicks me back to the library view. Very confusing.
I really think that pogoplug needs to give the iphone user access to the transcoded folder so we can go right into that from our and always stream the most 3G friendly video.
