Media processing is always running and the access to the drive attached to the Pogoplug is very slow. In the settings I have set the media processing to "Never", but there's no difference. If I try to stop the running media processing operation or the pending ones, I get the following error "An unhandled RPC exception occurred on method featureCommand: 600 [Invalid argument]"

The Pogoplug started to work like this only recently. Till a month ago it was working perfectly. Any help on this?

Thanks

That is curious! You could try ejecting the drive, then plugging it back in after you've confirmed that you've set all the drives' Media Processing Options to 'never'.

I have already tried that. But as soon as I copy something on the hard drive or want to sync, the media processing starts again.

Ah...I believe what you're seeing is the scanning process, which includes the following

1) Indexing - this allows us to search and sort the files on your Pogoplug Enabled Drive

2) Thumbnail and Preview Image generation - we create the thumbnail images and the lower res images for viewing on the website from your photos

3) Metadata parsing - we extract the ID3 data from your music files and exif date and orientation from your jpgs and use them to sort into albums, genres, by date, etc.

4) Video transcoding

The media scanning (which are you seeing) shouldn't take all that long; it could be hours with a lot of files, but not days. I wouldn't recommend stopping that item - without it the media filers (movies, music, photos) in My Library won't work. If it's taking a very long time (more than 6 or 7 hrs for the initial processing), that might be a bug, or it might be choking on a specific file; in either case, I'd suggest you check with support.

I have the same issue with the scanning. Let just to be clear

1) it will always do the scanning, even if all the options stream, optimize, create, streaming are set to NEVER of Disable, for every drive you plug in the first time.

2) if you unplug the drive and plug it back in, the scanning/indexing will repeat?

3) it also gives me a list of "items pending thumbnail gen or transcoding" when i click on remove, the screen refreshes but the line items are still there"

Thanks.

i've restarted the pogoplug many times and turned off all preview and sharing settings but the drive wont stop 'processing media'. Time to return this thing.

I'm kinda disappointed in the device i bought. it is persistent still scanning since yesterday 16:00. and it is still running...

I bought the device to play my media files (such as movies and mp3's through my house.) but even a simple Movie played with VLC go's very slow... i even have shut down my WiFi and go through with cable, so the connection was stable enough. but even that! goes with problems that i cannot stream the entire movie without problems.
This problems comes at my Macbook Pro

i think I've made an error when i bought this product. :(

I couldn't test it with windows because the windows Drive software doesn't work either. but I've already send a log to the support team. and they came with the solution to wait for the next software upgrade that comes today or tomorrow.

yeah, i agree. totally doesn't work in any manner that is usable. guys, get this thing to stop 'processing media' constantly and it will be awesome. otherwise, unusable. I'm using a WD 1 TB drive on Mac.

I have been getting the feeling this thing was rushed to production. The concept is terrific, but the device and software are far too buggy to be of any use. If the company wants to succeed at all they'll release a stable product and provide adequate support. Until then, returned.

My Pogoplug is "Processing Media" for 3 weeks now.
The access to my hard drive is so heavy that neither My Pogoplug website or Pogoplug drive cannot view files inside that drive.
Is there any way to resolve this?

Also, I am plugging 5 hard drives via USB hub, but is there maximum number for drives that I can attach to one Pogoplug?

Hi all, I completely agree: my pogoplug start rescanning media every time I try to create a folder or add a file on it. This makes it completey useless! Any idea how to stop it doing that? Is there a software upgrade expected doing this?

i didn't have this problem until the new firmware/cloud drive. it has been running for me ever since. i wish i could change the backup to be scheduled for a certain time each day. i hate when i create a new folder in one hard drive, it copies it to the other, then i rename it, and it copies another folder because its a different name. i want to set it to just mirror one hard drive to the other once a day at 3am so i never see it. but the forever processing is annoying right now.

I'm having the same issue. External HD has been "Processing" for over 2 days now. Access to my External Drive is extremely slow and my web page freezes up half of the time and becomes unresponsive.
