My 1T drive failed while I was moving. got a new drive, recovered the data from an offsite backup and plugged it back into the pogoplug which just isnt showing me theres a hard drive attached.

Sure the fix is simple to remount the hard drive. I just don't know what to try.

Suggestions?

If you find out out how to get your hard drive mounted let me know. My hard drive show as being mounted; but whne I click on anything it tells me the drive is not available.

Thanks in andvance.

@Dawn - What format is the drive in? It's possible that there is corruption or another error on the drive that the Pogoplug is unable to fix. The simplest (and most likely, most effective) thing to try is to format the drive fresh, reboot the Pogoplug, and attempt to connect the drive again.

Of course, I only recommend this since it sounds like you have all of your data backed up offsite. It will take extra time for you to transfer files back and forth, but you will be assured the data on the drive has no errors.

You could also try running a disk repair utility on the drive first, which would take less time and might resolve the issue.

If all else fails, I would then contact Pogoplug tech support.

the drive is ntfs format, it the default that the seagate came in.

I just bought a second 1.5 tb seagate freeagent drive, these things are cheap on buy.com(not sure if that is a good sign or not);I have actually thought about reformatting the drive, the drive that is currently used is being used to back-up both a laptop and desktop; and the result has been that I a lot of rubbish is the folders (desktop icons, multiple songs?, etc.)

the thing that I really don't understand is that it worked perfectly fine on the afternoon of 5/4/10, I was listening to some music that I was streaming from it as well as uploading a college term paper, and it worked with no problem. then this morning when I went to access it, I could see that drive was mounted, but it stated that the drive was not available, nor were any other folders.

OK so here's the deal.... It seems that the hard drive came with some odd files on it, and when I put my backup on it i put it on the drive inside a folder. When I deleted the files on the blank hard drive and put my things in the top directory it magically worked just fine. Hope this helps any of you out there who need this info, and thanks to those of you who tried to assist me with my problem!

Thanks for the advice and the note on the odd files. the extra hdd that I bought came in last nite so I'll be using that one to back up my desktop and laptop, i'll most likely reset the current drive to "out of the box" condition and use it for the pogoplug. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
