I live in a region where fast internet speeds are not available (I have the best available which is 8000/364) hence uploads to my Pogoplug drives takes a very very long time if I use Active Copy. I would like to drag and drop files and folders to the desktop mounted pogo drive but frequently i get an alert "The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “xxxxxxxxx” can’t be read or written.(Error code -36).
I contacted Pogo Help and was told to unmount the drive/s, disconnect it/them, disconnect the power, and reverse those actions. That did not do the trick. Help suggested that it was best to use Active Copy which is exactly what I want to avoid.
I assume that this is some sort of permissions problem - have any other Mac users experienced it and is there a fix. The obvious act of repairing permissions does not help.
Hi - I have also experienced error messages telling me the file names are too long or illegal. I don't think there is anything you can do about that since Windoze doesn't like long names or certain characters, you could try changing some of your file names. Have you tried Chronosync: http://www.econtechnologies.com/pages/cs/chrono_overview.html
I am suffering from the same issue.
As I have been using PogoPlug for well over a year now with no such issues I have to assume that some recent update to Snow Leopard is the culprit.

I've been testing my recently acquired PP with a 120GB Freecom drive before I start comitting data.
I was getting the dreaded -36 error on my Snow Leopard iMac, so I installed the beta of MacFuse and re-formatted the drive to NTFS with a windows boot block.
It seems a lot better, but I still get the -36 error when transferring certain types of folder.
I have Windows 7 installed via bootcamp, so I will test the client on that with the same folders to see if the issue is OS specific.
Ok,
From within my Bootcamp Windows 7 I can see my Snow Leopard drive.
Started the Windows PP client, navigated to the problematic folder on the Mac drive and dragged it to my PP drive.
No problems, no errors.
So it seems the -36 errors are an issue with the Mac client only.
Also,
A folder that causes the -36 error when dragged over within the finder works fine if you zip it, copy over then unzip in the Pogo drive.
No -36 errors encountered.
Ok,
I have been trying a new version of the Mac client for a week or so and it seems that the vast majority of -36 errors have gone.
I must thank support for sticking in there to see this through.

I should have added that the interface has also told me on occasions that some of my File names are too long and/or contained illegal characters. That's very PC and most disappointing for a Mac user. My Pogo Drive was correctly formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
