I had my new Pogoplug (2.1.3) about two weeks ago - plugged it in, connected my drive, logged on and it worked immediately and was very impressed

Added another drive plus USB stick drive and no problems

Now despite resets, I cannot get access to my drives - says no drive found - even the USK Stick Drive

Anyone any ideas? Tearing my hair out now!!!

I'm having the same problem and I already contacted the support. I guess it is something with the network/authentication and not individual problems. Let's see.

I have not checked out my pogoplug yet today (still in bed...using my phone right now), but I've had this issue before and it seemed to happen after a large amount of data was backed up. Hopefully they can work out the kinks soon.

Thanks both - the drives finally reappeared after some hours and are working fine again now - without intervention by me!

Is it not a good idea to add / remove drives very often if you want good availability of drives? (ie little downtime)???

I think I have a similar problem. I can see my drive on the pogoplug; but the main screen states "your pogoplug enable device does not have a hard drive atteched" or this "drive is not available" any suggestions or ideas on how to resolve this. it has already happened at least three times in the past week.

Everything had been working fine for a few days, now on the opening page I get "This Drive is Not Available". I hadn't done anything different....hadn't added a drive, hadn't removed this one...it just went into this mode

me too.. suddenly after a week of good run, today after came back from work, none of my drive is accessible from my.pogoplug.com, my windows 7 and mac os both can not detect the drive locally..

I have swicth the pogoplug off... remove the drives.. nothing happen..

what's going on??

what to do?? what to do??..

I have had this happen a few more times, still can't figure it out but sometimes have has a bit of luck by unplugging the power on the internet device (not the drive), forcing a renewal of the IP address. Didn't always work but usually did.

It works again !!, I switched it off at the main plug for a few hours, reconnected the drive afterward, still both laptops unable to map and no connection from the website. I left it overnight as it is, the next day it starts to work again.

June 21, 2010 5:03 PM

I'm seeing something similar, if not identical. After a few weeks of working pretty flawlessly, now when I start up the PogoPlug, the light starts steady green, goes out, comes back steady orange. I can "see" that the drive is attached to the PogoPlug, as described above, but I get the "Drive is not available" message when I try to access it. Using the PogoPlug desktop software mounts the "files shared with me" area (which had nothing in it anyway), but not the main drive. The drive itself is showing a lot of activity, even though nothing can be accessing it but the PogoPlug itself. Heaven knows what it's actually doing there.

I had the same issue last night. Powering the Pogoplug down, and reconnecting the drives afterwards seemed to work.

Now I am back to the "it takes forever to index a 1TB drive" step. Smile

Same here, my pogoplug work well for a while -- then the drives become unavailable - you get the message "your pogoplug enabled devceice does not have a hard drive attached" on the web site. Switch the pogoplug off then on it works again - not much use if you are away from home :(

October 17, 2010 7:58 PM

me too! this is very frustrating. I want it to work correctly so bad. :*(** It's crazy they don't have a fix for this already, it seems like a ton of people are experiencing this problem.

Same here, happened twice shortly after purchase - it defeats the whole point of having a Pogoplug.

What's the use of having it if it's unreliable - I cannot just restart it if I am away...and I shouldn't have to anyway.

It seems this bug has been around since May - and there has been no participation of a Pogoplug representative in this thread...are you kidding me? This is not some free web-app. I'm returning this thing if I can't solve this in the next couple of days.

October 18, 2010 9:18 PM

Well I can say that in my case the problem seems to be dependent on the drive, I was using WD 1 Tb usb2 drive and (i have 2 of them ) both appear to have the problem (when used separately) - I tried the pogoplug with a Sandisk 4gb cruzer and it worked without any problems. I have now added a smaller WD passport and that all seems fine.

On difference is that things seem to work OK with drives that are powered from the pogoplug itself - not sure if that is relevant.

However I agree its pretty poor that these issues have been going on since May.

Just got my pogoplug yesterday... was working great with my 500GB Maxtor 3200. I came back to it a few hours later and now it says that my drive is not supported. What gives? I rebooted both the pogoplug and power cycled the hard drive.

I bought my PPRO three days ago and it has not worked yet. I cannot see any drives?

Can't believe there is nobody from CE monitoring this...

The most effective way to get your problem addressed is to submit a formal request for support to;  http://pogoplug.zendesk.com/anonymous_requests/new

Remember, its not what life does to you, but what you do with what life does to you, that matters.

Done - let's see what happens.

bought my pogoplug about 2 weeks ago and everything was ok at first. now my one usb harddrive is working (it has a light on it) but its not showing up on my iphone, computer, or website. waste of money if they cant get this fixed.

October 27, 2010 5:18 PM

I have the same problem. The drive, a tiny 2gb thumb drive, is 'not available' when accessed via the mypogoplug website.

However it does show on the iPad app!

This product promised loads and failed to deliver! Glad I kept the receipt!

Hi Guys, it is possible that the recent spike in these issues was caused by an existing problem exposed via the most recent firmware update. To resolve the issue, please follow the instructions outlined in the following KB article:

http://support.pogoplug.com/entries/221766-i-tried-a-clean-restart-and-my-dri...

If you find that this does not resolve your issue, please submit a support ticket at support.pogoplug.com, so that we can help troubleshoot the problem.

Did that. Didn't work.

I'm returing this thing.

Please, don't get me wrong: I love the idea - the product promised a lot and I'm happy to be a beta tester - just not after paying $100.

October 28, 2010 2:33 PM

Did anyone get this resolved? I have been going through extreme frustration after having bought this yesterday and the drives just dissappear sometimes. I have just now been going through the forums realizing that this product may not be ready for mainstream yet. I did submit my support request.

I studied the problem in the past couple of days, this is what I realized:
Drive 1 (WD My Book 500mb“- owned it for about 2 yrs.): Idle all the time (hence, makes noise even if not accessed by me) - had to disconnect it due to me being afraid loosing data as it made writing/reading noise 24/7. Dockstar did not "hibernate" drive when not used
Drive 2 (WD Essential 1.5TB - just purchased: Drive works fine initially but seems to disconnect after a while if not in use... I think drive hibernates and dockstar can not re-access drive. Half of the time when that happens, I can see my drive on the pogoplug; but the main screen states "this drive is not available". Tested this issue several times and it happens in the same pattern; I can only resolve it by re-powering dockstar and drive. Interestingly, when drive is not recognized, dockstar still shows a solid green light -- not an amber light.

I think the dockstar has a problem with "waking up" a harddrive which went into sleep mode --- and the newer drives appearently do that.
