Twitter does that sometimes - I've been able to post this morning, so I don't think it's a systemic issue - have you been able to do so since?

I've been trying to attach to Twitter all weekend and have been getting the following error...
"There was an error authenticating with Twitter. Please try again."
It's happened on several different PCs and browsers. Did Twitter change something and break the authentication mechanism? Is this a known issue?
Knowing that Twitter has reliability issues, I had been trying off and on all weekend thinking it was just them. I still can't connect today. Also, I didn't try it until yesterday, but I can't connect to MySpace either. Facebook worked fine however.
I do get a pop-up window for Twitter or MySpace, but the page never loads, the window closes and I get the authentication error. It happens quickly, but looks like it is trying to load a twitter.htm or myspace.htm at pogoplug.com, right before it dies. It looks like Facebook uses a different mechanism for authentication, while Twitter and MySpace use the same method, which may be where the issue lies for me.
hmm...perhaps a browser pop-up issue? I'm on XP, using Chrome 4.x right now, and I just authenticated to both MySpace and Twitter. Do you have a popup blocker on? If so you might turn it off to test this, or just add my.pogoplug.com to the safe list.
I've tried it in Chrome, FireFox and IE, with all known pop-up blockers turned off and on 3 different PCs (2 XP & 1 Win7).
ok - this is a longshot, but on one of the XP machines you might try starting from scratch. Sign out of Twitter in Media Settings, then clear the entire history and cache (cookies, etc) of the browser. Shut it down and restart it, then go back in and see if that works. Maybe there's a bad cookie in there or some other preserved setting that is bad and needs to be flushed. If that doesn't work send in a ticket to support and we'll work with them to isolate the problem.
Just tried that. It did take a bit longer to come back with the error, but still got the error.
It just occurred to me what may have caused this... I had linked this drive to Twitter previously and, a few weeks back, removed and reattached the drive to PogoPlug. At that point it removed all the social network authentications, perhaps that is why I can't re-authenticate it - on some level PogoPlug thinks there is nothing to do. However, when I try to share anything via Twitter, PogoPlug wants to the authenticate.
I'll start a support ticket.
Now that is intriguing! We'll investigate here and see if we can't reproduce your problem. If that is the case, there is a solution, albeit not a great one - you could attach the drive to your cpu and delete the folder called .cedata and the file called .ceid - those are the database and unique identifier of the drive, respectively, for the Pogoplug. The bad part of that is it will force all thumbnails to regen and all videos to retranscode (if you have a lot of media it can take awhile) but if that is the issue, that should resolve it.
I'll write back here if I can confirm that that is the issue.
Just wondering if there was any movement with this issue. the thread is 15 months old and I have the same Twitter issue. I cannot enable sharing via twitter on any drive or using the share option with specific files. Facebook works fine.
Thanks.
In my case, I deleted the .cedata file on the PogoPlug drive and it worked after that.
I wish it were that easy for me. I deleted those files AND attached a newly formatted drive with the same error. :(
