I just bought another PogoPlug from Fry's Electronics.  This evening I will connect it and set up a remote backup plan with another pogoplug user.  I assume that the unit I bought will not yet have the firmware update that I waited for with my first unit.

When I log in and register the new unit, will the firmware update happen immediately?  If not, do you know when?

If your Pogoplug is due for a firmware update, it should happen within a day or so of connecting it, I believe. I can't give an exact timeframe, though. If it's not updating correctly, you should contact Pogoplug support so they can check it out.

@HopefulHappyNewUser - the first time you register a device the FW update happens immediately - check in the General Settings page, under Your Pogoplug enabled devices - you'll see the name of your device and next to it "Firmware x.x.x" - that version number should be 2.1.2 - if your device hasn't updated it would be 1.0.0.42

Thanks Jon.  When I activated it worked just as you said and the version was 2.1.2.

When I go to Settings on Pogoplug Drive, I do not see the device name or firmware version. Am I looking in the wrong place? (The page I see has three boxes to check)

Thanks

@Bgreig - the firmware version is reported on the website settings - go to my.pogoplug.com and click settings. Under "Your Pogoplug enabled devices(refresh)" you'll see the name of your Pogoplug and Firmware 2.1.2. - that's the versoin number for ya.
