Just to make sure we've covered all the bases - have you gone to
http://pogoplug.com/downloads/
and downloaded the drive application and installed it? It's not crystal clear from the instructions in the Pogoplug box, but you need to be running that application to see your drives mount. If you have already done that and logged into the drive application, can you describe what's happening next?
I just got this thing, and tried what seemed to be the right procedure to have my drives pop up on my desktop. They don't. I am running XP Home. Am I missing something simple? Thanks, and sorry if this is an elementary question to be asking.
Yes I did DL and install the Windows XP file, it created an icon within the win explorer menu but not on the desktop, strange. There were no screen Icons showing the drive I have attached to the desktop either. UTUBE video made it look so simple, but mine does not work.
To add, when I try and launch the PogoPlug SW from the Win Explorer(Programs), it blinks an hour glass and no GUI comes up. Isn't the local desktop supposed to show something?
So, no desktop indication of the drives, and seemingly no client functions locally. Is there other client SW besides what's in the "Download" pull down from the LAN access?
two possibilities come to mind
1) It could be an issue with connecting to our web service - that would cause the application to hang when trying to connect.
2) It could be an issue with the embedded version of Internet Explorer that you have. We use that (because it should be on every install of Windows) to display the sign in screen - did you happen to do anything unusual with your Windows installation?
That download is the only client software, and when you install it, it should automatically pop up the sign in screen; you could try uninstalling the app (add / remove programs) and reinstalling. If that doesn't work, I'd say contact support - they can do a more detailed analysis and help you out.
I am running Firefox 3.6.3
I have the abilities to run remote, even though I haven't had a friend verify the share works.
I just get no GUI from my local launch of Pogoplug from the WinExplorer launch at all, and like I said, the drives apparently NOT being mounted.

I have uninstalled and re-installed once, same thing. I also did turn in a ticket, but no response. I appreciate you trying to help, but if this is the best Seagate can do to make these thing as simple as possible, then I'm bound to return mine, and be a poor diplomat to others. There should not be this frustration level, it's pre-Millineum engineering IMO.
