The browser page at my.pogoplug.com is a neat way of playing your music while working or whatever.  From pretty well any machine running any operating system anywhere in the world, without having to install special software.

But the Flash-based player is somewhat meanly proportioned, IMHO.  And stingy with its information -- it doesn't even reveal the name of the track it's playing.

This information is certainly available to the Web page.  The Video Downloadhelper add-on for Firefox, for example, knows the name of the currently playing track.  My.pogoplug.com could surely surface this info more conveniently, couldn't it?

Yes... it needs that just to start with.

I really think if they put some more effort into the flash music player it would pay them back in sales - it's an amazing app all on its own in terms of sheer utility.

I'd like to see a much more capable player - countdown, VU meters, ID, and maybe the option for a visualizer. It should be a much bigger part of the site IMHO.

If at first you don't succeed, call it version 1.0

I'm not so keen on the VU-meters -- really only cosmetic with apps that are only playing, not recording.

The minimum requirement is at least to let the user know which track is playing -- a total no-brainer, IMHO. But any respectable player, Web-based or otherwise, should be able to surface the ID3 tag details like "Artist", "Title" and "Album", as well as "Duration".

I agree with you -- this is evidently CE's killer app, and deserves appropriate attention.
