Today is my first day with Pogoplug. It works very nicely and does what I want which was two primary things: invisibly backup important documents on various home computers and stream media to the TV through the Xbox.

I have do have a feature request regarding XBox 360 video sharing. It would be great if we could do one of two things (or both):

1. Choose which folders are shared with the xbox. I have hundreds videos taken with my camera that I don't want showing on the xbox. I only want my movie collection to show up.

2. Have folders within the videos area on the xbox. This should be possible as it can be done with DLNA to the xbox from other sources. I have my movie library organized into folders for the types of movies and now all of a sudden they are just one big list. #1 above wouldn't be an issue if the folders were there as I could just drill down to my movies and then the type of movie I want to watch.

I have solved both problems by attaching a second hard drive and I only share that drive. I set up an Active Copy from the first drive to the second drive to automatically put the movies I want on to the drive shared with the xbox.

In the end, the device works great and I love it so far. These suggestions would improve a great product and let me put that second drive to use for other purposes.

Thanks for the great feedback. The PS3 Pogoplug output actually works the way you are looking for, but we'll take a look at how we can better organize movies on the XBox. I've also added the selective UPnP folder output to our feature request list.

Wow! My post made it. I thought I had messed up posting my first time. Any reason it takes 8 days for a post to show up on the forum?

Meznik - You post was caught in the user verify que. When a new user creates a post it will not be shown until his account is verified. In your case, for some reason, it did not auto post. Maybe a delay in the time between posting and getting verified caused the problem.

Regarding the folders. I too would like to be able to set which folders get scanned for music or videos. For the time being I did a similar thing as you by creating partitions on my HD and setting the media scan to ignore the partition I didn't want to show.

Thanks for the reply. I had posted another question on my first day that I don't think has ever shown up.

Basically I was asking if anybody knew of hardware that could be hooked up to a remote amplifier in my house and stream music from the Pogoplug. I could have two or three of these throughout the house all of which could access my entire MP3 library from the Pogoplug. I have a much more expensive version of this currently in the form of the Bose HomeLink (I think that is the name) but it is pretty inconvenient to manage the library honestly.

I'd love to have something easier to work with directly as folders in Windows Explorer to manage the MP3 library like I can with Pogoplug. I just need the last few feet in my home to bridge the audio to the various amps. Any suggestions or not possible yet (short of a PC or Xbox etc.)?

The only solution I had thought of was an iPod touch with a dock and audio out to the amp but that seems like overkill for what could be relatively simple audio streaming hardware. Other audio streaming hardware solutions on the market all seem to require a host PC to be always on with their own server software running on it.

Probably could use something like a small UPNP player or something like that.

I run TiVos and use PyTivo and the Pogoplug to give me that ability to play music on my TVs.

Course it's not the same thing but it didn't cost me any extra money to setup.

Anyone know of any small UPnP players? All I need is audio support. It will be on an amp that is not near a tv.

Any hope of getting these 2 changes soon?

I am also after exactly the same thing!  I have had little luck finding anything so far... :(

Folders when sharing on uPNP needs to happen. This thing is useless. I have a huge library of video files and having them show up as one massive list on my Xbox360 is horrible.

Seriously considering returning this now.

Me too, I have 200+ movies (and at least as many home videos) and I can't have them all showing up in a long list when I stream to my Xbox. I want to see them in folders. Particularly, I have my kids' movies in a seperate folder (and sub folders) to my 'grown-up' movies that are not appropriate for my small children. Currently, I have no way of stopping my kids watching movies I don't want them to see with this device.

I'll add another vote to the 'I need this fixed or I'll have to return the device' plea.

Many thanks,
A.

You can share folder structure with your Xbox. You set up a share of the root directory of the folders you want on the Xbox using the pogo webpage. When asked for the email address you use your own. Now when you use the Xbox you access it in the shared with me folder. Hope my instructions where clear.
