The upgrade should happen at some point today (the 16th,) most likely later in the evening. There are going to be some UI changes as far as I know (for the Active Copy enhancements, for example) so it should be (fairly) obvious when the upgrade is complete :)

Ok 11h30 Eastern here and still no updates ? do I need to reste the pogoplug for the update to come through ?

You should not have to reboot the Pogoplug to get the firmware update; it should just happen automatically. Cloud Engines is located in SF, California, so that may account for the time difference.

That being said, it certainly wouldn't hurt anything if you want to reboot your Plug. I rebooted mine today just to be sure :)

Ok my web interface has changed and I'm able to share single files now. But how do I share with my xbox. I can see all my others computers on xbox, but no pogoplug. Is there something I need to turn on in pogoland?

My web interface changed too, however my firmware has not updated yet. You'll be able to see by checking the firmware version number on the general settings page. If it is 2.1.0 then you've been updated, 2.0.3 and you're still waiting.

ah, thanks. I'm still 2.0.3

I haven't seen any comment on whether this streaming capability is done via UPNP/DLNA. I've got a WD TV Live and would like to verify whether this new functionality will work with it as well. Would be great if someone could post a video/screen shots of how the PogoPlug shows up on your xBox/PS3 and what the navigation is like.

@Shamus - I plan on doing a full overview and test of the feature with screenshots, etc, once I get the update. Stay tuned...

March 17, 2010 11:20 AM

mine updated last night but my ps3 or xbox still can't see it yet. i've turned sharing one but not sure what else needs to be done. keep us updated if you get it working. thanks everyone for your comments!

here is the answer I got concerning the Dockstar.

Nathan

Thank you for the screenshots. This helped me greatly.

Below General Settings > Your Pogoplug enabled devices, I see Firmware 2.0.3

It's easy to confuse this the with UI version 2.1.0 at the lower right corner.

Seagate Dockstar is on the same roll out schedule as Pogoplug but at present the most recent FW version about which I am aware is 2.0.5.

As I mentioned previously, the roll-out should be complete by next week.

So guess we wait ..loll

March 17, 2010 1:47 PM

@Nathan re:Dockstar - they are being updated in the same fashion as Pogoplugs (we'll probably hurry up and roll out the firmware more quickly, btw - possibly in the next two days everyone should be upgraded).

I'm curious as to where you got the answer from DockStar - us or Seagate?

March 17, 2010 2:00 PM

hmm...mine is 2.1.0 and i still can't get my xbox or ps3 to see my pogoplug...?

March 17, 2010 2:27 PM

@ Jon.. I got the answer from Chris from support always super Helpfull he's great !!!

@ Chadhot: no that actually the UI version you see your FW version on the general settings page. next to your dockstar info

March 17, 2010 3:10 PM

Good deal! Christopher is indeed awesome :)

March 18, 2010 12:39 AM

Still haven't been updated yet.. sigh..

Got the update (right after I decided to unregister my pogoplug hoping it would force an update) and it works great on my PS3. For those having a problem do you have Media Server Connection Enabled under Settings - Network Settings in the PS3? When I turned on the PS3 the pogoplug logo was there under Photo, Music, and Video.

I would really like to know how one goes about accessing a pogoplug remotely from a PS3 or Xbox 360 as stated in the press release? "Pogoplug owners can now easily access, share, and stream their media directly to their Xbox 360 or PS3 from any local or remotely located Pogoplug enabled device." I understand how it works locally but remotely would make this device even more remarkable.

I saw this explained somewhere but can't find it. It went something like this. Let's say you want your PS3 to stream music from my plug. I would set up my plug to share files with your plug. Then your PS3 would see those files on your plug.

Hey Folks,

When you share a directory with someone, that directory will show up on their Pogoplug enabled device in "files shared with me". When you enable a drive on your Pogoplug and find it on your console (PS3, Xbox, etc.), in Local Drives you'll see one called shared files.
So -
1) Someone shares content to you from a remote Pogoplug
2) On your Pogoplug that is on same network as PS3, you enable streaming to your console
3) Find the Pogoplug on your console, and you will see the shared files in their own directory under the Pogoplug "server"

hope that helps!

When enabling the xbox streaming feature, the pogoplug now shows up as a device under Windows Media Center. However, there is no content showing up under Pictures or Videos. Any suggestions why this is not working?

Thanks

March 18, 2010 11:25 AM

The update caused my pogoplug to hang during a time while I was remote when I needed to use it. I suggest at least sending an email ahead of time before the next update, or the option of user pulling it rather than pushing it automatically.

March 18, 2010 8:18 PM

Hmm, mine upgraded (sort of) today, however my drive was ejected and did not reattach. I power cycled the unit and now it says the firmware is back at 2.0.3.

The big unknown in this is I was running PlugApps from an external USB drive, perhaps that didn't like the update. I've since removed that and am running the "stock" 2.0.3 firmware.

So I guess my question is - will the plug "retry" to obtain the update?
