Seems like the only limiting factor would be processing power?

And the fact that there is no video device support in the kernel.

Works perfect, 2 ipcams and a Guruplug are my home surveillance system

That's awesome! If you ever have free time and feel like writing a tutorial I'm sure the pogoplug community would eat it up.

Well, maybe it's the wrong place, my plug it's a Guruplug...

Ah, yeah probably wouldn't be the same steps. Good to know it's possible on these platforms at least. Has anyone done this with the PogoPlug?

Well at this point there are several contenders, Plugbox Linux (Archlinux), Debian, Gentoo. The Guruplug has not had a meltdown yet? Actually, I am using a Dockstar (Optware packages loaded) with a Cisco Linksys WVC80N for Video surveillance. The camera ftps video to the pogoplug drive and I can access the Videos saved through the web server or my.pogoplug.com. The WVC80N has a built in motion sensor so can be set to record only with activity. I've set up a dockstar with Debian and a USB camera a while back but did not use zoneminder. It was just storing some limited videos. I could probably get the same thing functioning on Plugbox Linux.

Zoneminder is much powerful than a simple ip cam + motion detection + ftp'ing the videos...and the guruplug is not melted yet ;)

Oh, well my Guruplug ended up in a blaze of glory a while back, you must have the new one that they finally put the fan on. That should be good until a motor bearing/bushing freezes up. I wouldn't call the VVC80N a simple IP cam since it has a lot of capabilities. As I mentioned, before that setup, I had usb camera funtioning on a $25 Dockstar with Debian with the ability to add two more usb cameras on the extra ports. I could have also probably setup zoneminder but the current solution actually works fine.
