Hi,

I'm having an interesting problem with my newly transcoded .mp4 video files on my Pogoplug.  Using HandBrake on my Mac Mini running Leopard, I have been transcoding files to an .mp4 format using H.264 compression.  These files play wonderfully when I stream them through my iPod Touch.  They do not play at all when I attempt to view them through the web interface or Android PP app.

Files my friend previously transcoded to .mp4 with H.264 using HandBrake and various other programs work well on all platforms.

Is anyone else having this issue?  Or can someone make any suggestions?

Thanks tons,

Erik

do you have the "Web Optimized" checkbox checked when you use handbrake to transcode? if not, try this option and give it another shot.

Hi Keith,

Thanks for your reply. I don't have 'Web Optimized' checked off when I use HandBrake. Do you know what it does? I'll give that a shot tonight and return with my results. I also have an issue open with AdamC of Cloud Engines. I'm also going to upload some of my working and non-working content to a shared folder for him to review.

Thanks tons,

Erik

Erik, "Web Optimized" organizes the mp4 file so that it is suitable for streaming over the internet. The movie itself is no different, but some of the important components of the mp4 file are placed at the beginning of the file instead of later in the file, to allow the streaming player to retrieve those items immediately.
