A question for support or active users!

Can I use the pogo device as a "mapped network drive" for a locally installed application?

Example:

I install a genealogy program on my laptop/netbook. The data file for this program is simply too large to "carry around."

The program lets me set the location of the "data file(s)" on any local network mapped drive.

Q) Can I use pogo in this manner, where the app is installed locally in Windows, but the data file is on the pogo device? The same question goes for other apps like Quicken, Quickbooks, etc, where I don't want to (or can't) carry the data files with me!

I presented this device as an "Interesting Gadget" at our weekly PC club meeting, and a number of members were very interested in this device if it could handle this scenario!

 Thanks for your response! ]8-)

Yes, simply use the Pogoplug drive app. This will create the virtual drive (not a networked drive) on your laptop. Then save to that drive and access it anywhere. Well anywhere you have internet access. :)

Actually it doesn't work with Quickbooks Pro 2010. I placed the company files on my Pogo share, and I get "Can't open file" errors (-6000 and -6177 from their Quickbooks Connection Diagnostic Tool) when trying to open it. I'm logged in as the administrator. I can easily copy and write files to the share from the client, but Quickbooks Pro 2010 just can't open the company files. The error also says "You need a share with Read/Write/Change permissions.."

You're putting your company financial records on the pogo so others can access it? Does any of that sound wrong to you? That's a bad idea from beginning to end.

It's secured so only I can see that share.

Any other ideas?
