My panoramas don't load thumbs either, however, when I click on the preview button, it shows them loading. Once they're loaded, I can preview them, but the thumbnails are still missing. Panoramas (mine anyways) are really big so you just have to give them some time to load before you can preview them. If it's a regular jpeg file, it should work.
