We take file corruptions very seriously.

I have a pogoplug setup at home and I connected to it at the office. We have several users connected to the pogoplug. I've been experiencing file corruptions with doc, pdf, and xls. Does anyone have a solution to this problem??
Hey folks,
Cloud Engines released version 2.0.3 of the Pogoplug firmware. This is a patch release that resolves data corruption problems with NTFS and HFS Drivers. The firmware was released last night to all Pogoplugs and your device should update to the new firmware by the end of today (in fact, most of them are already updated).
2.0.3 firmware for DockStars has NOT been released yet, but we do expect to do so soon.
You can check the version number by going to the General Settings page on the website - next to the name of your Pogoplug Enabled Device you can see the version number of the firmware. If it says 2.0.3, you have the latest version! If the version number is not 2.0.3 there are several possible reasons:
1) You have a Seagate DockStar - Seagate has not yet released this firmware version
2) Your browser has cached this page - click the refresh button on your browser and check again
3) Your Pogoplug has been offline - in order to update the firmware your Pogoplug has to be online and connected to the Internet for at least 2 hours.
If you have check the above three issues and your Pogoplug still has not updated to 2.0.3 by tomorrow, January 20th, please contact support at http://support.pogoplug.com/requests/anonymous/new
Thanks for your patience with this everyone!
Jon
I am at 2.0.3 , just checked.
This does not fix my old files (.jpg files) !
I guess that unless I have backups elsewhere those are
ruined forever, right ?
* It was odd, for me, that no other types of files I had on pogoplug were bad, that I know of. My experience is that 'my.pogoplug' worked within itself, but downloaded .jpg files were corrupt. Pogoplug Drive would only let me see one
.jpeg uncorrupted.
Hey dmon4u,
I'm afraid it does not, and I wish I had a better answer for you on that. The problem was with the file system format type (NTFS, HFS) not with the file type. The jpgs that you say on my.pogoplug are preview versions (designed for low-bandwidth viewing) - the versions that were corrupted were your original versions. I apologize for this - this is the worst kind of bug to have in the field, and it has been our highest priority to fix. If there's anything else I can tell you let me know.

im now on v2.0.3. i know my pdf, xls, and doc files are now corrupted and i hope the new version fixes the file corruption on any future files. i've lost a lot of time in redoing all those corrupted files.
I have a Dockstar I purchased for xmas; i subsequently bought a 500gb seagate free agent mid- january; during mon-thurs of last week 1/25/2010 thru thurs 1/28/2010 I copied about 100 gb of mp3s and videos. The problem is, I discovered yesterday, all the mp3s chirp and stutter when played from the dockstar on windows media player; many of the video avis have pixelation or do not launch.
I discovered this thread only after seeing this phenomnon and realize the files are corrupt.
Your post says that Docstars were not upgraded with 2.0.3.
However, I see on http://dockstar.pogoplug.com/settings.html
that the dockstar has been upgraded 2.0.3.
I'm about to do a test copy to see if this has corrected the issue. Stay tuned.
@leper31
The DockStars got updated on 1/27 - 1/28, so it's likely that the corruption you saw was on the older firmware - apologies all for not updating this and other posts with the DockStar information. If you do see a problem with your new test please let us know immediately. We believe the bug has been addressed; if it hasn't, it will be our top priority to fix.
Thanks,
Jon
Dear All,
I have experienced file corruption using the Seagate Free agent in connection with the pogoplug drive. All documents saved with MS WORD on the pogoplug drive have been corrupted causing MS WORD to crash once I open such files from the pogoplug drive.
I would like to ensure that future files are saved properly and would like to use the pogoplug drive instead of the local hard drive! What may I do?
Thanks,
Sincerely,
Matthias
I'm getting ongoing data corruption problems when writing to my Dockstar via Windows File Share (IE Samba) at version 2.5.6. Sometimes, the data in the file is just not what was written.
I had been having similar problems since I unboxed the darned thing, and tried using Samba on Optware as a workaround. This solved the problem for a while, but the most recent firmware update killed my Optware - but seemed to also substantially improve the built-in WFS capability. Now, data is corrupted only intermittently instead of every single write being bad.
Unfortunately, a network storage device that occasionally corrupts data isn't really any more useful than one that always corrupts data.
