I just hooked up my Dockstar and installed the latest version of pogoplug (1.0.0.37). The two USB drives and the P: shared drive both report as FAT32. Prior to hooking to the dockstar they were NTFS.

I assume this is a bug?

If I go to the Dockstar via http://dockstar.pogoplug.com/settings.html The two drives show as NTFS however in Windows Explorer they report as FAT32. This disallows files larger than 4 G to be moved (ie. video.).

I am running WIN XP SP3 and the dockstar is going thru a Linksys WRT54G V5.0 with the latest BIOS.

Oh I echo the request with the original poster that choosing the drive letters and names for the drives would be most helpful.

hi there, even though P: reports itself as FAT32, the format of your drives should still be the same. the reason P: reports FAT32 is for best compatibility with windows software, and it does not reflect the underlying filesystems of your drives. rest assured that as long as your underlying filesystems are NTFS, you should still be able to copy >4GB files to it despite FAT32's limitations. we have verified this in-house.

Well the issue that I am having is related to coping files to the two USB HDD drives that are connected to the DockStar.
Even though they are formated NTFS Windows will not let me copy any files that are over 4GB (Video) to them. I get the error that they are formated FAT32. When I click on the properties of the drives the size and utilization percent is correct. The format style is not.

As I stated above when I access the drives via the Pogoplug website they report as NTFS. In Windows Explorer they do not.

The other odd thing I am seeing is that when I go to the properties of the P: drive it lists as FAT32 and a size of 2TB. Not sure the 2TB means anything but it not real.

john

I have also seen the properties shown as FAT32 although NTFS. But I have no problem copying files >4GB to the HD. Also using Win XP S3.

johnnstance, i recommend sending an email to support@pogoplug.com, what you are describing should work. perhaps there is something awry with your particular circumstance.

additionally try your same copy operation running in "single-drive" mode. from what you describe, you are running in "multi-drive" mode. i am curious whether it works in that mode.

I tried in 'single-drive' mode. Same results. Although the p: drive now reports a more realistic resource.

I believe I will send an email to them. Perhaps it has something to do with the DockStar hardware? I am hopeful I can get this to work. This appears to be a great solution for my needs. The drives (and dock) work well. It is just the format glitch that appears to be the only dull spot.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I (with the help of Pogo Support) have determined that using the file copy utility Terracopy does not work with the Pogoplug drivers as of right now.

The driver has a work around that Terracopy does not recognize and will not copy a file larger than 4Gb to a drive connected to the Dockstar as it reports to Terracopy that it is a FAT32 drive even though it is not.
Upon removing Terracopy from my system I was indeed able to copy a 4.5Gb file to one of the drives.

This echos what Brandon C has seen as well.

Hopefully the software can be developed to be able to use this application but for right now it can not.

Thanks for the help and suggestions all.
