As I indicated a couple days ago in another thread something is happening to MP4 files when they are downloaded from my Pogoplug drive.  These videos are in perfect shape when they leave here . . they play as expected with QuickTime and/or iTunes.

But when someone downloads them. . . all kinds of strangeness happens when they are played on the downloaders machine.  They don't open, they play for a few seconds and stall, audio is out of sync . . mostly wouldn't open at all and this message comes from QT.

"The movie could not be opened."

"An invalid public movie atom was found in the movie."

What is going on?  This has made Pogoplug useless to me.

They don't monitor posts here?

@Norm - as you can see, the Pogoplug folks are very active here and do monitor posts on the community :) They must have been reading my mind when I posted!

Often, issues or questions can be resolved on the forums without the need for an official support ticket, which is why both options are offered.

I have given up on my Pogoplug. Every movie file goes up in perfect shape and then comes down unwatchable.

Same issue as i was having... The I logged a bug report with the head of QA and they know about it.

My fix has been to turn off all the new media transcoding settings for the time being. so go in to settings, media and turn those off... i even turned off the generate thumbnail as well... seems to be working till a new firmware gets sent out to us..

Never noticed the settings link way up there in the top right hand corner.

Went in and turned everything to "never."

Thanks for the tip. I appreciate it. This thing was driving me (and my family) crazy.

No worries. You will have to reupload any content to it again as well. But it should be ok!!

Hey Folks,

With the help of the community here and our beta testers (thanks Scott, et. al!) we have been able to isolate the problem; the corruption is occurring the file system drivers for HFS and NTFS. This is as you can imagine the top bug priority at the company; we are actively working on resolving this problem and we will implement a fix as soon as we can, and we will update these forums with any new information we have.

For the vast majority of users this bug does not occur, but of course we take every instance of this very seriously. If you have encountered this issue, please contact support at http://support.pogoplug.com/requests/anonymous/new Our support team will contact you and determine the most appropriate work around while we resolve the root cause of the problem.

We do actively monitor Pogoplugged and I'll do my best to keep you all updated as we know more - please point people to this post if you see their questions elsewhere on Pogoplugged - thanks everyone!
