Is it possible to share a single file within a folder that contains other files that aren't to be shared?

In the situation I am thinking of, the folder would have other files that I would not want to share with the other party for any number of reasons - confidentiality, confusion, etc.

I realize I could copy the file in question to another folder and share that folder, but that's a couple extra steps and I could see myself ending up with a bunch of extra folders to keep track of.
