You don't need to set up anything special, and I just checked and my share emails are working fine. Can you send an email to support@pogoplug.com and they'll help figure out what's happening.

So, no matter what I try, using the web interface, putting in an email address, or using my iphone and sharing with a contact, NO email is sent and nobody receives any links for accessing files? Is there some additional setting one needs to setup?
I have noticed that email notifications are only sent if the file(s) are added to root directory. If the additions are to sub folders/directories no email goes out.
Respectfully, Norm, it seems you may be wrong? :-) However, I have a problem too (see below) so maybe the two that work are the 'wrong' thing?
Background: I have three drives in my PogoPlug, and have shared at least one directory on each - thus none of my shared files are in the root directory on any of the three drives.
Each drive thus has a shared directory - to a different email addressee - two of the three are working fine, the third has resolutely refused to (ever) send a sharing email no matter what I've done (add share, delete and re-add share, add file(s), etc.)
That the other two (identically configured) shares work well just adds to the frustration of the third share not working.
If anyone can help or has any insights to share - I'd love to hear them.
This is the only problem I've seen with my PogoPlug, but it's beginning to annoy, as the share is needed to fulfil the purpose of using a PogoPlug.
Anyone seen this - anyone have a fix, please?
Cheers, JS
I've just purchased a PP and cannot send out any e-mail sharing notifications - except to myself! I've tried POP account addresses on Hotmail,AOL and G-Mail and no luck. As JS says - annoying, and it seems to crop up a lot in the threads.
Maybe this should be in FAQs or even a troubleshooting section

My emails get sent but the link doesn't work. Only tested with video. If the user signs in and navigates they can play the video fine.
I am also having the same issue. Files are shared with 2 of the 3 people they are sent to via the email address. I have contacted support and all they can tell me is to contact my domain manager. There is no domain problem as others in the same domain are receiving the shared file. Not sure what the issue is.
Waiting for response back from support....if anyone had this resolved please post
I went to the Pogoplug website page http://my.pogoplug.com/features and downloaded the file that you show as an example for sharing called "ziplining.mov", under the features heading:
" Instantly share all of your HD videos
Let your friends, family and colleagues watch your videos seconds after you take them. See a shared video for yourself. "
I can click the link (See a shared video for yourself) and see the video play fine. When I tried to send an email link to myself of that downloaded file, I still get an [X] in the the picture. Has anyone tried this? I am using IE 9 on Windows 7.
I see the same behavior. I think maybe my understanding of how this is supposed to work may be flawed, but here's what I did:
I viewed the "See a shared video for yourself" video of zipline.mov with no problems.
I then downloaded zipline.mov (approx. 40 MB) and placed it on my Pogoplug drive. Created a link to it and tried to view it from here at work. No luck. I get a video window, but nothing plays.
So I uploaded the same zipline.mov to my Pogoplug Cloud drive (the free 5GB provided by Cloud Engines.) Created a web link to it, but nothing plays. I've tried two different browsers, and two completely separate Internet connections. I can *download* the file from either location, but I can't play it using the URL.
It's puzzling to me that the downloaded file is 40MB but the video from the link listed on Pogo's web page begins streaming instantly and plays in 10 seconds. So the file I'm watching and the file I downloaded are clearly not the same file, because that would require approx. a 40 Mbps connection. The difference in quality is obvious too.
So there is some missing piece here, and something I don't understand about streaming from the Pogoplug.
That is not too surprising, since they are transcoding the video on-the-fly for streaming. But when you download it, the original video is provided. The issue that I have (and others), is that the Pogoplug device is suppose to "stream" the video from the device if it is in one of the accepted formats Pogoplug shows in its Knowledge base. So I assummed that the .MOV file was one of those formats since it streamed from their website. Perhap the Pogoplug device streaming action is not activated from the email link. It will, however, stream using the pogoplug app on either the iphone or andriod tablet I own when connected to my pogoplug device. My last communications with pogoplug support asked me to disconnect and delete the .cedia file and start again. This was the first thing I did (10 e-mails ago), and now we're circling again. I am sure their support has no clue what the problem is, even though I've explained it in exasperating detail and plenty of examples.
So you're saying the Pogoplug can read a large video file from the hard drive, transcode it to lower quality/bitrate, and stream the result on the fly?? No offense, but I have a hard time believing that, based on my limited experience with the Pogoplug.
