The only filetype I can get to download is an mp3, and it lands in /sdcard/pogoplug.
I did this by beginning to stream the file, and then clicking on the "O" to the left of the "back" "play" "forward" arrows.
There doesn't seem to be any way to download any other type of file.
I can see the files on the USB drive attached to the PogoPlug using the Android app. It allows me to drill down to a specific file. However, once I see the file name I can do nothng with it. How do you copy a file from the remote drive to the SD card installed in the smartphone? I want to do this so I can open it using Documents to Go for example.
Thanks. That is unhappy news.
What is the point to being able to remotely see files that you cannot use I wonder?
I've since been able to also download .jpg images using the same method, and get small text files to display on screen, but can't download the .txt file itself, and an attempt to even display a large text file will crash the app.
I'm pretty sure that the Android app is in it's infancy and that's where the problem lies. I don't know who's doing the development of the app, but I'm sure that "we" are a pretty small market, although a fully functional Android/Pogoplug app is one that I would actually pay for.
How about using "Download Crutch"? I don't use the Android app on my phone but Download Crutch allows you to download files that would otherwise not be supported to /sdcard/downloads. It works in the Browser at least, I don't know about Pogoplug.
That looks like it would be a handy app, however it's no longer available on the Market, and the secondary sites that are now hosting it are dubious.
Anyway, this is getting a little far afield from Pogoplug...
still can't seem to save via the Android app, but I was able to download pretty much anything I can access via the browser and the my.pogoplug.com site
