You are going to smoke the USB device. There is power applied to the bus when the device is functioning. You have the basic problem of cross connecting two power supplies. The serial bus would never be able to sync two sources. And you could render your USB port inoperable.
But what the heck give it a try :0))
I have a wild and crazy question. Would it be possible to run 2 plugs, but share the same USB drive? I was thinking about buying a Sheeva Plug and use it along with my Pogo Plug. Reason being, is I was thinking about installing openpogo, and running all kinds of opensource apps, but thought it made more sense to keep that seperate from the Pogo, so I can maintain use of the interfaces ie. Iphone app, web app, drive app etc. and the Sheeva has better specs than the Pogo does as well etc.
