I believe your friend is uploading to a filtered view (My Media>Music, Movies, Pictures, Slideshows submenus).

She should be able to upload directly to a Share, provided she's been given read/write access to the Shared folder.

If she's in a filter and would like to navigate to the folder, she can Open the Containing Folder. This Action is available in List View to the right of the item in question or in Thumbnail view, a folder icon will appear top right when she hovers her mouse over that area of the thumbnail.
