I have not been able to backup since installation of pogoplug. It only appears temporarily when refreshed and disappears after a while. The Desktop Manager downloaded with FreeAgent cannot locate the drive. Scheduled download cannot take place because the drive is not seen by windows or any other component of the system. Do I need to find a cable with USB  on both ends to connect the DockStar to the USB on the computer for my system to be backedup?

I needed to disable and re-enable WFS every time I connected a drive to the Dockstar in order for windows to see it (this was mentioned in one of the online reviews of the product). Also, after the firmware update WFS went away during the interminable "scanning" that took place. I changed all options to "never" and that appeared to make it stable again. This behahvior may have changed when they did the .1 update to the firmware last week, as I haven't touched it since then. I think using WFS is the most compatible way for it to work with popular backup utilities. I use Microsoft SyncToy 2.1 to backup.

Your solution was applied and it worked. The system is completely interconnected now and working seamlessly.
