Seeking to understand how others are using Pogoplug with NAS or JBOD enclosures. I am considering several types of NAS devices, but seeking to understand the best configuration at the best price point. The plan is to establish pogoplug as a shared storage medium for shared workgroups. I think we can limit this to 4TB discussions and include performance characteristics when connected via DSL, Cable Modem, and 3 or 4G. Techical eval via ??? is more about drive performance and board type - but useful. Technical eval via tool (??) on the device end with video, jpeg, other tools are all needed.

OK, Over the holidays, I set up my 1.5TB WD Drive in an enclosure from ULTRA (29.00 US). I added the enclosure to a USB Hub and an array power supply (12VDC out). It's a cool stack and right now a JBOD config. Pogo plug is working well and I have 4 users, one of which does pen tests professionally poking around. He is a security nut and so far, so good .... except for the download speed. Every user is telling me ...way to slow !! I connected the PogoPlug to a Belkin N Router which connects to a 10/100 Ethernet Switch and then to a a Westell WireSpeed DSL Modem (discontinued in 2004 but whos counting ? ). I am going to have to either upgrade the modem or move to a cable modem for the higher speed. I am also adding another WD 1.5 TB drive and will configure a shadow set using RoboCopy on the local system ( the plan at the moment ) ....
