Hello, glad to hear you love your Pogoplug!
Per Pogoplug's Twitter post today (http://twitter.com/pogoplug/status/5898512400):
"1st generation Pogoplugs will get all the software, firmware and feature updates automatically today."
I, too, would love the feature of song lists, but the announcement does not elaborate on that.
Excited to hear about the updated, new form of Pogoplug. Will tell my friends. Nice to see 4 USB ports on device. Press release talks about improved iPhone and photo use, other updated features that seem like they will be able to translate to those of us who already own the original Pogoplug 'brick' shaped unit. I love mine. What/how/when/will we loyal early adopters be getting in this evolution in the Pogoplug world? A couple of my wishes:
-- Want to be able to play a list of songs, & not have to start a new song manually, song after song.
--Would like to know more about the iPhone updates that are promised for the new device, and what will also come to existing users.
--Are updates automatic (will install over old version) yet? Seems like I still have to remove Pogoplug from "Remove Programs" in Windows when an update is announced. Hope this comes down the pike when new firmware/software goodies trickle to the loyal band of Pogo'ers......
Pogoplug has made a correction to the tweet above, which you can see here:

"my apologies V1 versions will be updated at the same time that V2 ships in mid December"
So, the first gen units will get updated when the V2 units ship, but not today as they previously stated.
The announcement also says"
"By listening to user feedback and following our own product roadmap ..."
I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed. Play lists and uploading folders are just two features that have had a lot of requests here. Publishing the product roadmap (even if only for the next release) would give us a sense that our feedback is being heard.
Indeed, ianjb, the Pogoplug feature request forum is one of the most popular areas on the site. It would be awesome if the Pogoplug did everything an electronic device could do :) I think it's pretty awesome as is and these new features make it even better, IMO.
I do think that Cloud Engines has addressed several issues with the upcoming firmware/software. For example, of particular interest to me is the automatic iTunes syncing. Right now, it's kind of a pain to manually transfer files over... the Pogoplug is the most painless way I have of listening to my music remotely! The Pogoplug Address Book was also a popular request that was addressed.
Out of the requests that were not addressed by this update, which would you say are your top features that you would like to see in the next release?
@E pogo
It appears most of your questions have been answered. Regarding features:
-- Want to be able to play a list of songs, & not have to start a new song manually, song after song.
The default for this should be as with the current web application; you should be able to play a list of songs when either playing from a folder or a Search folder (in this case Music). If this isn't working for you now, please write support@pogoplug.com
--Would like to know more about the iPhone updates that are promised for the new device, and what will also come to existing users.
The iPhone App will remain freely available from the App Store; we've just submitted a new version to the Apple store today and we hope to have it approved by mid-December. Some of the key features incorporated in the new iPhone App submitted to the store are the ability to to share directly from the iPhone as well as upload video, display of album art, and global search to mirror the Web Application.

Chris, it is not working. i will write to support, but when I use the iPhone app and open my Music folder, I then navigate to specific artists' folder, and only when I have drilled down to a single song file am I presented with the "Play" screen that is the pogo music player. After the song ends, the player stops, does not go on to any other songs in that artist folder. Nowhere is it evident how to get the pogo app's music player to play a folder. Is it specific to the named "Music" folder being playable in toto?
I will try to create a dummy 'Music' folder that has NO folders inside of it, just individual song files. Maybe that will work.
It's a horrible pink colour though.
I hope CE offer it in a colour choice, because to be honest it would have no place in my den. I like the four port hub but I can do that for a few pound with a discount USB hub.
Sorry that sounds shallow but that pink is unlikely to attract a huge male following..
Gavin,
I have to agree with you on the color. Pink may be a good choice for some, men or women, however not for most users. It seems Pogo Plugs Sales and Marketing team may have missed a couple of meetings.
Pogo Plug Marketing question: Are you donating any money to the Susan G. Komen Cure for Cancer? Think Pink!
Maybe the next version of Pogo Plug will offer an all white version with options to add accessories. Color shells to brighten up the unit, such as red, blue, and yes pink, for a small additional cost would add to their revenue. Additionally the option to "skin-it" would appeal to a few users.
With that said, I am a male and did buy the pink unit. At this point I'm waiting on my order to ship, hopefully mid-December as stated when I placed my order. For now, I have my trusty can of spray paint standing by ready to go into action.

Errr... I don't object to females having Blue things.
Ummm... They say it takes a 'real' man to Use, Wear, or Drive pink! ;-)
