Greetings! I just received my Pogoplug and got it up and running. I'm already getting dizzy at the prospect of all the possible uses I can derive form this new gizmo!

Question:

Is it possible for a file or a whole folder to be shared with someone else in a way that they can just see it and not download (copy) it?

Hi caqmd,

I'm afraid that feature does not exist. It is one that we are considering for implementation but at the moment you can only either share a folder read / write or read-only, but in either case downloading is still possible.

Best,
Jon

Thanks Jon. I would definitely like to see this featured as a third option within the drop-down menu when a folder is shared.

I remember a program from a couple of years ago that set up a streaming server on your PC, and then you would select videos and or pictures to share and it would allow a streaming only option based on user invite and it also had an expiration you could set on how long the link would be active. I think that these options would be a good thing to protect personal pictures and such. Can look at but not download, can stream videos but not download.

The answer you gave on this question is from september 2009. Is already a permanente date set for implementing this new functionality?

At this moment i create CD's with pictures for the participants of a followed course.

It looks very handy to me to send the particpants a link so taht they can download the pictures to there own PC.
