Hi beaker1991,
The Android app is definitely still in beta, and we are working on another release. Very happy to see you using it and reporting bugs (I just picked up the MyTouch for testing a few days ago actually), and I'll make sure we look at those in this testing cycle.
Thanks!
Jon
I am having the following problems with the Android Pogoplug app. I am using a MyTough 3g and Android Pogoplug version 1.2.1.
1. I can only upload photos to the the root/base directory of the attached drive. If I attempt to upload to a subdirectory I receive an error.
2. I can not delete files.

Dear lord is there ANY movement toward making this apparently useful? !
It's been over four months.
I'm getting pretty tired of looking at lists of files that I can't download to my phone. Zumodrive is sounding pretty attractive.
the pogoplug app for Android is a MAJOR fail. WHEN WILL WE BE ABLE TO DOWNLOAD FROM POGOPLUG TO DEVICE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
it's been a good while since we thought we would get a updated app for android :(
On my Droid I can see files but I can't get the files to open, so we are still waiting for this to work?
Has anyone tried the beta of the new Android app? It seems that we still won't be able to download or upload files other than jpg and txt, the app still looks awful and videos still don't play in full screen mode. ;-(((
holsen
The version we plan on releasing to the market will have full-screen video. I will see what kind of files we can make downloadable (this is a must have feature I agree).
Any other constructive suggestions you have are most welcomed!
Is there a cosmetic upgrade coming soon ? It's just so ugly looking even the black berry app looks better lol
smonme
Yes, there will be several cosmetic improvements.
Once again, if you have anything more specific and constructive to suggest, let us know.
Adam, have you had a look at the dropbox app? That's how it should look like

- put the buttons for sharing, settings etc (lower bar) into the context menu (accesible by pressing the menu button) gives more space and includes text beneath the buttons
- android has a specific search bar which is only presented after pressing the search button or menu -> search also saves more space
- use checkboxes in the settings menu instead of on/off buttons, something like this: http://www.androidtapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Spades-for-Android-Sett...
- tapping on a file should just download the file and open the app associated with it (called intents)
- long press on a file should give the user the option to either download or delete the file
- in general: try to stick to the general recommended android layout and boxes:
e.g. http://www.linuxtopia.org/online_books/android/devguide/guide/practices/ui_gu...
for instance the current long press brings up a very ugly looking menu. It should use the standard dialog box used in android

described in
http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/ui/dialogs.html
If you need more ideas let me know, I'll keep you busy ;-)
JUst downloaded the app for my HTC Desire on TMobile contract in the uk. Initially it installed and I was able to use it, but although it was saying streaming music, there was NO AUDIO. Any ideas please. After I came out of the app and tried to go back into it, all I get now is a blank screen. Please Help.
This article from today should help you guys too. These are the features your users want.
File-sharing apps smackdown: Dropbox vs. Zumodrive

Hey!I just installed the new version and I have to say it is really nice! Especially the music player looks very cool and also the overall layout.
Adam, are you still interested in suggestions? Or is the development done on the Android app for now?
- The "create a new folder" dialog still looks strange, could you make it look more like this:
http://www.taosoftware.co.jp/en/android/callblocking/img/block_number_list_ad...
- A download queue would be great: Selecting Download should add files to a download queue which displays its progress in the upper status bar (same like downloading an app from the market) the download manager only downloads one file at a time and displays a download completed message in the upper status bar.
The download manager should also be able to download entire folders.
- There is no need for a Cancel button within dialogs, the back button is here to do that. I addition I would get rid of the button in the upper left corner taking you one level higher. Instead make the font smaller so the whole folder name fits on the screen. It should be just as big as the "Spades w/Ads" text in this picture:
http://www.androidtapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/Spades-for-Android-Sett...
- Could you put those play, forward and backward buttons for displaying pictures on top of the pic, so the picture fills the whole screen?
- Ability to upload any kind of file would be nice
- Ability to download videos either as mp4 or the original format would be awesome!
- Ability to send pictures directly to the pogoplug from the camera app and others (using intents) would be great
- The whole share with process should be handled within a separate pop-up dialog, also it only displays all the email addresses I have ever been in contact with (without names) instead of my contacts names and addresses
Wow, that's a long list!
I also installed new app on Droid, and it now seems to connect with users other than the primary administrative user. At least I can sign in with a test email address other than the one that I administer the pogoplug with and can stream, which I was not able to do before.
I'd like to see the ability to build an on the fly "play next" list. I can't seem to figure out if it streams files one by one or what kind of order once you start it.
(all this over a satellite link at that, can't wait to get back to civilization to really test it)
But I'm just happy it now works!! Thanks!
This is great feedback! We are already working on the next version, so you'll see a lot of this get incorporated very soon. We're also improving the music playback so it will stream songs based on the object you started from - i.e. play a song from a specific album and it will play all songs in that album, start from a song in a genre, and it will continue through all songs in the genre, ....
Another minor bug I encountered yesterday:
I started a slideshow in a folder which also contains a few videos. Whenever the slideshow reaches one of these videos it will stop playing, so you have to press back and restart the slidehow after video. I would also like to see an option in the settings for setting the duration how long a picture is displayed. Right now, the app skips through these pictures very fast....
Have had a bit more success with the new version on my HTC Desire, but recently tried streaming via hsdpa and had to wait 5 minutes before it started streaming a song. Halfway through the song it stopped and I had to wait another 2 minutes for buffer to catch up. When I wanted to stop the song, the screen would not react. Eventually after another 4 minutes, I returned to my home screen on my phone, only for the music to start playing the next track. I then had to re-enter the Pogoplug App and put in my password, before I could stop the music from playing. STILL VERY DISAPPOINTED with these bugs. Is this a known fault to be only affecting HTC Desires or is it an Android App fault in general? I await a reply please.

Sounds like a network issue or maybe a carrier specific issue. Either way, we'll look into it. On 3G or Wifi, I have no issues streaming audio, and video is never longer than a minute or so to start playing in the worst network availability conditions.
Thanks,
I look forward to your findings. I am on T-Mobile in the West London area based in the UK if that helps. At home for WiFi I use a Belkin FD8325 router I believe.
So what format do the files need to be in for video streaming to an android phone? .AVI, .MP4?
