Does anybody know the status on getting any of these implemented inside the pogo plug? I've spent the last two years building a Killer Home Theater System and I would like to be able to watch my downloaded videos on the Big Screen. I bought the pogoplug and set it up as a drive on my pc. I would love to be able to drag and drop the videos on the drive and have access to it from the Home Theater so I could watch the videos any time any where without having to leave my PC on 24/7. I have a Hacked Apple TV running Boxee/XMBC I also have a PlayStation 3. I use to have a HTPC running but pulled it in favor of Apple TV because I wanted to use just one Remote to control everything (harmony 1100). I tried using the RSS feeds in Boxee and I did get it to work after a few frustrating attempts, anybody who's tried to enter a RSS address using a remote in Boxee knows what I'm talking about :-( The feed listed on the application page once clicked it showed all the movies in the folder, the sad part is once I turned the apple tv off and on again it did not show the contents of the feed anymore. I was also hoping for the development of DNLA to use my PlayStation but I have not seen any workarounds for this either. My question is this, Should I bring back my HTPC and view my pogo through windows as a drive, Buy A NAS Drive or wait for official DNLA, SMB or UPNP Support?

I'm trying to hack samba support on the pogo. I don't quite understand why the CE folks didn't provide samba support for the mounted usb drives by default.

I thought they did. Isn't Samba turned on when you enable WFS in the web interface? Note I have a DockStar so maybe it's different.

I don't see any settings for turning on "WFS" from the my.pogoplug.com/settings

From further research it appears that it's only an option on the Dockstar. Since Dockstar is a bonafide pogoplug device one would think it could be easily implemented on the other pogoplugs.

You might want to check out TonidoPlug. It has SMB,DLNA and UPNP support.

Thanks plugfish I just purchased one of these, I should get it in a couple of days. It looks like a great product.

iomega just up'ed the anti in this realm, with their new parallel product, i'm sure the folks at pogoplug are feeling the heat of the added competition.. time to ramp up the firmware updates!!!!!

I use my pogoplug with Serviio DLNA media server, however, I would prefer PogoPlug to have a built in DLNA media server with the same functionality as Serviio.

Optware on the plug works great for this. I chose to leave the original firmare in place, maintain the mypogoplug funtionality and just add what I wanted. It's not too difficult but you do have to be carfule and it helps to know a little bit about Linux.

I do agree though, it would be nice for some of this to be available out of the box.
