Forgive me if this is posted elseware, i looked around a lot to see if i could find an answer.

I want to be able to allow my friend to upload files to my pogoplug, how is that possible?
Can he create a my.pogo account somehow?

Meaning he is at his house, on his network, and pc, im on mine with the pogoplug on my network, and me able to login to it.

I dont want him to have read / WRITE access to the whold drive, just part of it.  He can download just fine now via the email link it sends, but is there a way for him to upload files as well?

Thanks in advance

From My.pogoplug.com you can share with him a folder. When you turn on sharing there is an option to allow him to upload also. He would then only have read/write to that folder.

Does it allow you to limit the amount of space they can use and upload too or is it based on the size of the hard drive? I would like to add 3 TB of drives to mine and have one 1 TB drive for family members to store photos too but I would like to put a restriction in case of abuse.

Hey RG,

There is currently no way to limit size aside from drive / partition size. You could set up multiple partitions with everyone getting read access to all of them, but write access only to one (so mom gets 100 GB but sis only gets 50, and your cousin gets 400) so everyone can see everything, but only write a certain amount. Hope that helps!

Thanks Jon.QA, I was afraid of that, my main thing was to keep some family members from abusing it, I was going to share the 1TB for family photos and home movies but some of them are trying to store the ipod back ups or the media collection which is what I was trying to avoid. I wish it would allow us to setup a quota, this would solve it as well.

I have tried to allow friends to upload so I created a folder, clicked share, entered the email addresses and clicked the "read/write" button next to their name.

When they open the email and click on the link, they go to the folder and there's no button or menu to allow them to upload.

Do they have to JOIN pogoplug to upload?

thanks

the real question, of course, is how they can JOIN. There are no instructions for a user to set up a pogoplug account, and the link on the shared access page, where they can supposedly set themselves up for permanent access, doesn't work. so even if you get the upload problem fixed, they are only going to be able to use it for 2 weeks.

Not sure what you mean.

They should see this:

And when clicked see this:

Then they can register and upload.

I just tried it with another one of my email accounts and it worked fine. Are you seeing something different or am I not undertanding what you are saying?

I posted this in another thread but will add it hear just in case. I tested this on a PC using IE7 and when I clicked on the link to register, nothing happened. I emailed support and the answer (at least for me) was to clear my IE7 browser cache. After doing that everything worked as it is supposed to.

My daughter had the same issue with it expiring after 2 weeks. I search google and came to this forum stream. I send the link to this page and told her to look at the screenshot BC posted near the bottom. She text me back saying she sees it now and created an account. Thanks. Good post.

is there a way to allow my wife to have full access to the network drive. Having the ability to choose file to share and invite people to view. Currently I only have these options.
Also is there a way to delete an account/email and start fresh with that email again?

Make sure you have given her full access in the sharing settings. You do this with the drop down box beside her email address. Clicking the X in front of the email address in the sharing settings will delete that address. You can then add it again.

I am having the same problem as the original poster. I have given people full access to certain folders, but the upload button is greyed out. They can upload files using the driver download, but not through the web interface. They have created an account, so that isn't the problem.

Well, supposedly, all you need to do to grant someone "upload" privledges to your shared folder is to set their access (next to their shared email address) to "full". Having said that, I've done this for a couple family members and they can see and download, but still can't upload. So .... I think there is a problem somewhere. I'm waiting or a response on another post.

Let me know if this works for you, please.

Im not seeing a drop down menu. I can upload from the users Ive added, but I also want them to be able to access through windows explorer with full privelages.
