I don't really have any comments on the above post, since I just got my PogoPlug, and haven't tried streaming any music yet. My first comment about the Iphone App, is that as a test, I tried uploading a picture from my Iphone to my PogoPlug drive, and it gave me no indication that it a transfer was in progress....no progress bar or anything. I thought it was hung, and interrupted the transfer, only to find that it was indeed transfering the image, but didn't finish...can you please add a progress bar or something?
Thanks much.

I am going to be brutally honest, since that is the best way to get things done. The iPhone app sucks! It seems like it was just thrown together. The fact that when you are streaming songs and it can only play one at a time is a serious oversight. It should move on to the next song in the folder. That would make this a killer app. I know this is only the first version, but I want to share my thoughts in the hopes of improving the next version. The other problem is that it doesn't keep playing when you lock your phone. Pandora and other apps can do this, so the Pogoplug app should be able to do that too. I am on my corporate email with my phone and policy makes it autolock after 5 minutes. The other issue is that when you are browsing folders with long names, it doesn't scroll the name of a folder or file that is longer then the screen can display. That is a necessary feature. So far, I am impressed with the other features of the Pogoplug but highly disappointed with the iPhone app. I was all ready to show my friends who are looking at the Pogoplug to stream their music to their iPhones, but it is so bad I don't want to show it to them. Anyway, the device is great, just need to work on the iPhone app a bit to make it the seriously killer device it has the potential to be.
Also, if anyone can assist me, I am not able to play a full song on the iPhone, it will play for a minute or so and then just kick back to the folder I was in. My phone is on my wifi connection and this happens when I am right next to the router. Any ideas are appreciated.

There is a progress indicator, mine comes up so fast that you'll miss it if you aren't looking. The iPhone pics aren't that big. Then it gives you a popup saying it was saved to your drive. That part of the app actually works pretty well. The folder browsing and MP3 playback on the other hand...

Interesting. Cause, I never seem to get a progress bar. I did get a complete notice, but nothing else. Also, it seems like uploading .jpgs takes forever..
TMac said: the iphone app also needs to support more video formats. I cant't play a simple .wmv on my iphone. If they threw some decent developer time at the app it would be drop dead and round out the already awesome product that it is.The iPhone can't play .WMV files natively. That is an iPhone limitation not a Pogoplug limitation. The only apps that can play WMVs, and then only hit or miss are only available on a jailbroken iPhone. So I would not be holding your breath for WMV playback with the Pogoplug app, it would most likely be rejected by Apple if they made support for it in the app. WMV is a Microsoft format, Apple has no desire or reason to suppor it. Stick with MPG and MP3 files and you will be good to go on just about any hardware out there.
Bill,
Got my PogoPlug a couple of days ago and just tested a couple of mp3's on the iPhone app. I've got the same problem where it won't play mp3's until the end.
In general, the iPhone app is quite disappointing and does seem like it was thrown together quickly. It crashes on me often, and the audio player in particular is very basic.
It would be good if the bug where audio files can't be played all the way was fixed and also making the app a bit more stable... it kicks me back to the home screen way too often (though this seems to occur more often when playing audio files).
In particular, I'd like to see support for the following in the audio player:
- Display length and current position
- Moving back and forward within a track
- Playlists and/or playing folders of tracks
- With the above, next track and previous track buttons
Overall though, I think the PogoPlug is great and has a ton of potential... Improving the iPhone app would take it a long way.
Cheers,
Mun
