Idris,
Are you aware of this forum?

There are some folks over there that are discussing similar applications.
A homeplug adapter built into a pogoplug would be awesome.
For the uninitiated, homeplug is a system which allows you to turn your building's electrical outlets into network adapters. Tiny amounts of harmless interference are introduced to the power supply which can be picked up by other adapters using the same circuit, creating a network with speeds of around 50Mb/s.
A pogoplug connected to the network via the power socket would mean one less cable to route around your home.
Any plans to support homeplug?
This sort of thing should be left to Marvell, I think. Cloud Engines should be focusing on software features to make their product more useful and accessible, rather than taking on a niche technology just because the outlet is there.
Oh I see, do the makers of pogoplug only make the software bits then? In which case this would be better being discussed somewhere else. Although, cloud probably have some influence on what marvell produce so there's no harm discussing requests here.
Adding this technology to pogoplug would transform them from simply a server which happens to be in a walwart, into an instant server with absolutely no cabling required. This would be a very desirable feature with mainstream audiences.
If you told someone "plug this all-in-one device into a wall socket and suddenly you have a security camera in your hallway / garage / nursery with no further configuration required", it would attract far more than just a "niche" market.

I've been thinking about some of the applications for a homeplug-enabled pogoplug.
· Plug in a USB webcam for an instant remote camera - no routing ethernet cables required
· Plug in a USB soundcard and speakers to stream audio to every room in your house - no ethernet or long audio cables required; just plug it in anywhere and it's ready.
· Instant router - you can already get homeplug router devices, but one that runs linux and can be infinitely customized like a pogoplug would be amazing. Again, no need to route a network cable to it as the data travels over the existing power lines.
What other applications would benefit from eliminating the need for network cables?
