If possible it would be great to have a driver that is only an executable that doesn't need to be installed. At my work, we are blocked from installing anything without IT's blessing. If the driver was just an .exe it could be ran from most computers that are "locked down". Could also put the .exe on a thumb drive for portability.

I use http://portableapps.com/ on my XP box at work. A Pogoplug Portable App would be great.

In Windows the Pogoplug drive program requires that the DokanCEMounter service is installed and running. its at x:\Program Files\Pogoplug\dokanmnt.exe

Which requires an install. You could try using a program that would run on a thumb drive that installs and starts the service and then runs the ppfs.exe (Pogoplug) drive program.

If you Google "Start program as a service" you will see some options on how to do that.

But it would be easier if the drive program was not reliant on the service being installed.

I'm assuming the Windows app uses the same FUSE library as Linux and Macs do? I dunno.

unfortunately one of the necessary components is a kernel driver that must be installed as administrator (dokance.sys) which involves a few steps that the installer takes care of. the mounter service also needs to be installed with system privileges (dokanmnt.exe). however the ppfs.exe program does not require any additional install-time configuration. fuse is not available for windows unfortunately, the dokance.sys kernel driver performs a similar function however
