rob, please contact support@pogoplug.com. i know people have been using robocopy successfully including preserving timestamps, and support should be able to get to the bottom of your issues. also make sure you are running the latest version of the desktop application (1.0.0.16)
I have robocopy scripts that I use to back up data that don't work with Pogoplug. There are 2 issues i'm having, does anyone have any tips?
1. robocopy filters not recognized - i used robocopy [source] [dest] *.doc /MIR, with the intent of copying word docs only. works fine across windows machines. Does not work at all with robocopy. I get the message
2009/07/16 20:23:45 ERROR 18 (0x00000012) Scanning Destination Directory [dest]
There are no more files.
what is that all about?
2. Does not set timestamps properly. even when explicilty specified by /COPY:DAT it seems to think the system data on itself is 4/22/2000. Thus on every run, even with /MIR it copies EVERY file EVERY time. Is there a way to set the system clock to be current? or at least let robocopy set the date so it's in sync?
Are there any workarounds for this? Powershell perhaps? if not it's a deal breaker. copy *.* is not a solution.

Commenting back with what i've learned so far. the guys at pogoplug support are good - they got back to me same day. first thing we tried was setting the system clock. The script involved telnet-ing over to the device and setting its clock via hwclock and date -s commands. I am not sharing the full set of steps since it involves the device's admin password. If you need this fix contact support.
once the clock was set it did not fix the issue. robocopy still overwrote every file even if nothing had changed (degraded to copy *.* behavior). Also i still get the error 18 when i use filters (*.xls,...). The second step they had me try was to edit the registry and bump up the logging level to produce a verbose app log, which I emailed to them today.

Did you get an answer to this problem? I am having the exact same issue with the timestamp and Robocopy copying everything.
no, it still didnt' work, and I have not attempted to see if this was resolved by later fixes. it was painful enough that I punted. I do backups another way, and do not use pogoplug for that purpose any longer. I still like my pogoplug as a way to share files from home pc to elsewhere, so i like the product, but I don't attempt to push it beyond its boundaries any longer. //rd
