Just wondering if there is any protocol for shutting down the pogoplug and restarting. Will configured drives automatically show up when re-powered? If I want to add a drive but need to add a hub first, will the drive that is already configured with the pogoplug show up upon re-start?

Thanks

Proper shut down is pretty simple, fortunately - go to the website and login. Next to each of the drives click the eject icon. It will ask you if you want to eject: say yes. This safely removes your drives. Once you've done that you can power down the Pogoplug by simply unplugging it. Let it sit for a few seconds, then plug it back in to power it on. Let the lights turn green, and you're good to start plugging other things into it.

to answer your other question once you've safely removed your drive, and restarted the Pogoplug, plug in the hub, then the drives - they should all show up in a minute or two (FAT32 takes a little longer, and they won't show up in any specific order).

Hope that helps!

Jon,

But it really should/could be simpler than that.  I should be able to do it over the LAN if I have authorization.

So, how about from settings you show a 'Shutdown' link.  This link would be bookmarkable and have some authorization key embedded in it so it could be invoked even when not logged into the web UI.  Also to be more secure this method by default would only be possible within the LAN using a direct URL to the PogoPlug.

By the way, I've noticed that when I download from inside the LAN I get a direct URL to the LAN IP of the PogoPlug.  That's cool!

Hey Core,

Thanks - we did try to keep transfers as fast as possible - no reason to go through the interwebs if the Pogoplug and drive are 3' away on the same network.

I do like the idea of a global shutdown button that would allow you to take down your Pogoplug then make changes to the drive configuration and have a tab / button that brings it back up again (so it's really shutdown, and not reboot). I've added it to the feature list for future development - thanks for the suggestion!

Hi.

Recently I bought a pogoplug and I had same question. (Wow, its 2years ago;-)
I too felt it is nice to have shutdown/reboot button in Web UI.

By the way, as linux user only workaround,
I found following command is feasible:

ssh -x Pogoplug 'sync; sync; busybox poweroff&'

This will immediately poweroff usb HDDs. pogoplug LED is still on,
but kernel is down (I guess), so it is safe to unplug.

To re-run pogoplug, I need to unplug and plug it again physically.
