I am interested in getting a pogoplug to run as a low power bittorrent seedbox. Basically all I want to do is hook a 500gb portable hard drive to it and run bittorrent.

Does anyone know if this will be possible?

It sounds like it would be possible by sshing into the pogoplug, and then installing something like rtorrent. If there was a tutorial out there for this, I would snap up a pogoplug.

I'd be able to write some tutorials about installation of such things...but I'm still waiting for my Pogoplug to ship. XD You'd just need to grab an ARM binary of whatever, SSH it over using SCP or wget or something, chmod +x it, and run it. But, I don't actually have a Pogoplug to test this on. ;)

I'd also appreciate getting some tutorials up for bittorrent running on pogoplug. It's currently a taxing application for my dated laptop and it would be of great value to just let the magic pogoplug do it for me :D

I'm curious how one would start a bittorrent after you get it installed. Would you download the .torrent from your computer and then use some command to send it over to the pogoplug, which would start downloading it? If so, how could you monitor the progress I wonder? Only the pogoplug would know what the download settings are, the peer list, the progress, and so on. My impression is that it would be somewhat complicated to manage something like that remotely since you can't just pop up a GUI.

I have little experience running applications remotely, so I'll be happy to see more how-to about this.

My Pogoplug ships tomorrow and I'll start working on stuff ASAP. I should get it by next Wednesday. :D

Some PlugApps community members have successfully gotten it working on the Pro via a PlugApps chroot. You can usually find them in IRC, or in the forums at plugapps.com
