It's great feedback. We are currently bound by the Flash-based video player that we use that only supports FLV and h.264 videos. We are looking into some creative ways of providing background transcoding so that you'll be able to stream from different source format types.

When browsing files in my.pogoplug.com, only .mov files can be played. Other movie formats (AVI, MPG) are displayed, but don't play properly.
Even the filter for VIDEOS on the left hand side navigator displays MPG and AVI files and other formats, but you can't play them. As a minimum, I would suggest either support other formats or don't include them in this filtered view.
tonykwok,
You could use the poogplug drive program and anything that you normally watch on your computer will be viewable via it.

Even using the PogoPlug Drive program and VLC, streaming video isn't really very attractive. Standard-quality content will have buffering skips of about 1 second in every 30- just annoying enough to ruin plot points at crucial moments. I think it might have more to do with my connection than anything else, but what could be causing the latency?

Is it skipping on LAN or WAN?

No, it's plugged right into the router.

bsonk, what I meant was on LAN (while you are home on the same network as the Pogoplug) or WAN viewing via the internet.

Wow, it works way better with h.264 videos.

fyi, you can set vlc to store a 3 or 5 or whatever second buffer. that way it will load up a decent buffer and you won't get the 'skipping', it'll just start playing later
