We get it, and we want to support Pogoplug outside the US and Canada :) There are lots of pieces to making Pogoplug work, besides physically delivering it, and we want to make sure we get them all right before entering different countries. Some of our concerns are localization, local customer support (we plan on being fanatic about providing great customer support), local relay service (so all of your remote access bits don't have to go through US servers), local distributors (customs fees would be more than the price of the Pogoplug if we don't), .... We are actively working on these issues and are excited to share Pogoplug with the world!!!

This product is EXACTLY what I have been looking for. Is there any technical reason why it wouldn't work in another country (specifically the UK). It looks like the voltage rating for the power will be within limits, but I can't think of any other reason that it wouldn't work.

Just like everyone else here, I am interested in finding out when you will be selling the proplug internationally (Australia).

Works fine, I got one on holiday and it's working fine here in the UK.

Plug works on 100-240V so powers not an issue, the plg won't fit a UK plug but that comes off (think like mobile phone chargers sometimes are)  to reveat a figure 8 connector, theres even a figure 8 extension lead on the box, just chop off the US plut and put a UK one on it and that it.

Took me longer to remember how to open th UDP port on the router than get the plug connected to the mains and network.

I bought pogoplug from Amazon and has it shipped to Singapore.
Really great product and easy to setup and use.
Simply love it!

Will be great if there are other colours to choose from.

The pogoplug is just what I'm after! Was close to buying the dockstar but the $30 annual fee turned me off, and this is just the same without the freeagent dock which I don't need. Plus I saw there is a wifi connection available in the US, so this would be great when it becomes available.

A few queries though...

1. I need an Australian connection. Chopping cables isn't my forte as mentioned by Gavin, though I know it isn't rocket science. Is it worth just giving it a go? I've only noticed female C7 figure-8 to male Aust converters online, which I don't think it what I need to convert the power connectors.

2. As a mac user, will this work with time machine?

3. Will it stream apple lossless audio files? Perhaps transfer rates aren't high enough. Or should I reinvest in converting my CD collection back to mp3s? Though I really need high quality audio files for my job.

I know this thread is old, so hopefully enough people check back to answer. Thanks in advance =]

Hey Mr Claw,

Thanks for the reply! Link didn't work but I can imagine what you're talking about and no doubt I'll figure it out when I've got the cables infront of me.

Will look for a US one and let you know how I go.

And lol at the first word of **** Smith being deleted out =D

Hey there...

I've bought a Pogoplug fron the US and it has a figure 8 power cable that's 10A 125V.

Is it ok to use the Aussie version that's 2.5A 250V? Or will this ruin my unit?

Is there an similar lead in amps and volts that I can get in Australia? Or should I just buy a US to AUS plug converter... like the ones you use when travelling?

Cheers,

Andy

ANDY: You can buy a convertor plug but there really is no need. Its something else that may work loose and fail.

If you don't want to cut the existing power lead (I guess you won't remember when every appliance came without a plug and you always had to buy a plug with a new appliance)then just buy a standard figure 8 cable.

The cables rating is irrlevent, it's what the plug uses that is. Mines the old style plug and it uses 200ma. Your 2.5A one is more than capable of supplying the plug. it's measly 0.2A it needs.

I know Maplin are a UK Comapny, but you need something like this, which looks to be what you have anyway.

Mac questions I can't asnswer as I don't have a Mac.
