If the PogoPlug had a second NIC, it would be perfect for a low-power consumption, lightweight firewall and routing solution. The PogoPlug + A Gigabit Switch + Freely Available Open-Source Software = An Open Source, Fully Expandable SonicWall competitor for $100!

Anymore thought about this? Adding an additional NIC to the Pogoplug.

you should be able to in theory. Just need to keep an eye on what happens in logs and dmesg when you plug it in...and if it sees it I guess you'd just need a kernel module for the network adapter you plugged in. (would have to be compiled for ARM).

But why bother? You can pick up used Linksys routers online for dirt cheap and flash them with DD-WRT or some other similiar Linux custom firmware. Poof, you have an instant linux device that's also a rock solid router.

A second NIC would be awesome!  Then you could use the extra memory and processor speed to do something like: http://www.untangle.com/home

That would be an awesome UTM for home!
