Does the PogoPlug manifest itself as a drive in the Mac OS X Finder, making it easy for me to access?  Or do I have to access it some other way?

Works just like your hard drive. Your Pogoplug is accessible through Windows Explorer and Mac Finder. It's just like using a drive that is directly connected to your computer.

There is an app that you install and it runs as a menu icon. You can have it run at startup, so it'll automatically login you in.

Can anyone get it so it doesn't ask you the preferences when you have it set to auto load? Every time I boot it shows up and is quite annoying. . .

Well, I have been getting an error every time I try to load this app: " Library not loaded: /usr/local/lib/libfuse.2.dylib" I erased the app with "appzapper" and reinstalled with the same results.

It worked relatively well for a couple of week, and then this started two days ago.

pogoplug support must be really tired of hearing from me by now, but I have to admit that I'm tired of contacting them as well. This has been a surprisingly long process for a device that everyone praises for it's simplicity.

You uninstalled MacFUSE somehow. I had the same problem you did at one point during the beta process. If my memory is right, I deleted the app from the Applications folder, rebooted and then re-installed. If that doesn't work, try downloading MacFUSE directly.

That fixed it. Thanks

Did anyone answer the question on removing the preferences request on startup? Also, it doesn't seem to want to remember the single drive preference

Thanks

Mine does that same thing. You have to click single drive and OK after a restart. I only restart my iMac a couple times a month so it doesn't really bother me.

I entered my username/password and checked all three boxes in the menubar app preferences. When I login, the menubar app starts, but the Pogoplug drive is not mounted on my desktop and is not visible in the Finder. In order to mount it, I have to click on the menubar app, select Preferences, and click Save. Then the Pogoplug drive mounts on my desktop and is visible in the Finder. Is this how it's supposed to work? It seems like it should auto-mount, and I shouldn't have to go through all those steps.

Also, does anyone else think that the menubar app should have a Mount entry? So if you eject the Pogoplug drive you could just click on the menubar app and click on Mount.

I think you have the minimize checked in your login options. Uncheck this and you have the same issue as me.

I just checked, and the Hide checkbox for Pogoplug in Login Items is not checked, so that i not the problem.

Is there a way to keep the icons OFF the desktop and only have them show up in the DEVICES area of the HD browser? I'd rather not add more icons to the desktop, although I understand it is working as expected for the moment.

Hi PogoPluggers!

I just got my pogoplug and am using it with my iMac running OS version 10.5.8. I installed my pogoplug successfully and downloaded the disk utility successfully as well. When I came home after the weekend, I notice that my mac had crashed (very odd and a unique occurrence). In any event, after I rebooted, I noticed that the pogoplug disk was no longer on my desktop. The pogoplug icon is currently running at the top of my screen, but when I click it, and selecte "Preferences," I put in my username and password, only to get a pop-up window that says, "Username or Password invalid." I have gone back to my.pogoplug.com to change my password and then deleted and redownloaded and reinistalled the disk application, but I am still getting the same message.

Any tips on how to fix this?

My PogoPlug won't show the contents of the drive in Finder... I've tried searching for help but have only come with answers for things unrelated. Anyone got a clue?

PikaMatt:

When you access your PogoPlug application from the desktop, can you see the contents of your drive?

I have the same problem. I see the drive (represented by an icon on the desktop) but when I double-click it opens a window as expected but shows no files.

So here are my details:

I bought a used v1 PogoPlug. Downloaded the Mac software. Connected a USB drive. Tried various features of the pogoplug including local and web access. Shared a folder or two with friends and myself. Went to a remote location. tried downloading and looking at files. All seems OK.

Came back home. Wanted to unmount so I could hook up another USB drive. The only way to unmount is via the web (this is BAD. vy BAD. without PogoPlug Company we cant unmount???).

After unmounting via the web I got the feeling my usb drive was still busy. You know drives these days - they dont have indicator lights so you can't tell whether it is safe to disconnect or not (another VY BAD BAD). I contacted PP Support and they said I did it right and to go ahead and disconnect. That killed the drive. Now when I connect that drive to my Mac it gives me "Invalid B-tree node size error". I am not a happy camper.

Do I waste more money for Disk Warrior (wasted if it can't restore my drive)?

PikaMatt and Maclouie:

This problem happened to me all of the time, but I think it may be a Mac issue more than a Pogoplug issue. When this is happening, do you have other peripherals connected to the web, like a Magicjack, or Skype or any torrents downloading? I'll bet that if you tried loading one of these applications, that they would launch but they wouldn't have an internet connection. My tinkering has not resolved why this is - just that after some moment, eventually - the Pogoplug, Skype, MagicJack and my uTorrents all begin to download and start getting internet connection.

Hi guys,

I bought my PogoPlug yesterday and well configured it at home. Now, I'm at office and I'd like to access to my disk (with the same email as at home), but I only can see "Files shared with me". Is it normal ?

So, I've to use the web interface to manage my folders & files, it's not very practice...

Excuse me for my english but I'm French so Shakespeare's language isn't very easy for me ^_^

Thanks in advance for your reply !

If I understand what you're saying. Your pogoplug is at home on your local network and you want to access it at work using the desktop app instead of the web interface. I believe all you need to do is use the web interface to tell the pogoplug to your share your drive with your email address. Then when you access it at work and click on files shared with me, you should be able to see your drives. I have not tried this myself, but I believe it should work from what I have seen.

April 22, 2010 11:34 AM

@Cosa67 - it is possible that your office is blocking the drive app with a proxy server - if that is the case I am afraid we do not have any way around that at the moment. You certainly should try dougzv's suggestion, since it is possible to share your own drive with yourself - if you can see that, then it is a valid workaround.

and your English is better than my French - bon chance mon ami!

Dear dougzv & Jon.QA,

First, thanks for your quick reply (sorry I've been in holidays so not see them fast).

I already try to share my disk with my email adress, but able to only see "Files shared with me".

The firewall suggestion is maybe the solution and I'll try at friend's home and let you know the results.
