Yes, the older version worked fine, and didn't make it possible to share my computer.

I like some security on my Lan, and Pogoplug seems to take that decision and make the default for the new software to expose everything to others running pogoplug software on my Lan.

I hope they keep the older simpler version, I don't want to make my computer part of the cloud, the pogoplug device is what offers that capability.

Maybe someone needs to upload the original MAC and WIndows and Linux versions of the software to a public site so users can get back the simpler functionality of the original program.

I might like the new version if it

1. Honored the settings of the one it replaces (like a single drive to access my pogoplug drives and shared with me drives).

2. Did not, by default, attempt to share everything on my computer. The defaults should be "honor this person's security, don't just invite others to share everything" which is what the default settings are saying. "This person wants everyone to see everything on his/her computer, everyone who 's on the same LAN" -- a very bad idea.

3. Keep the original version up to date, and available. If I want a friend to access some things on my pogoplug devices, I don't want them running this new version and being concerned about his/her own security. It's a very bad first impression to have a program that wants to share everything, especially in this day and age with identity theft, hackers, viruses, etc.
