The Pogoplug Team Goes Zip Lining!

High above the treetops, the Pogoplug team hit the zip line "Superhero" style

Making our way to the take-off tower.

My coworkers and I pile into each other's cars early Sunday morning and head east; the Bay Bridge sets below the hilly horizon behind us.  Our only stop is to buy a bag of buffalo jerky from a farm stand.

We arrive and hear the zzzipping sound of flying bodies overhead.  After getting harnessed up by a couple of local jokester teens, we cram into a beat up Chevy pickup that takes us to the top.

If you want to zip line "Superhero style" (like you are Superman flying through the sky), you have to awkwardly maneuver yourself into something like a pushup position at the edge of the platform.  With the harness tying me tautly to the cable, I can barely reach the ground with my fingers or toes, and I swing back and forth trying to hold my form.  I'm dangling between feeling just plain goofy and like a total badass.   My husband is on another cable next to me, so we get to fly side-by-side over the landscape.  Once we hear the word to take off, I attempt a big push from the tips of my toes, and off I go!

Zip lining like a superhero is exactly what I imagine flying feels like.  I soar through the air holding my body like the ski jumper in the Olympics.  I look over at my husband hoping to make eye contact and share a laugh over just how fun it is to fly.  Chis, however, is wearing his game face and is shooting ahead like an arrow.  I approach the landing platform and tuck into a cannonball.  The whole structure shakes and creaks as I am whipped backwards by the stopper springs.  I helplessly and happily dangle inches above the platform while the teen staff helps Chris down.

After we're off the platform, I tell Chris I wanted him to look over at me during the flight.
Chris: "Imagine you wake up one day and discover you can fly.   You think you are the only one in the whole world with this superpower, and then you look over your shoulder and see some person flying next to you.  That would ruin it a little."
Me: "I see your point."

It was a grand time had by all.  We pile back into the cars and nibble buffalo jerky while recounting just how amazingly fearless we all are.  "It's a bird, it's a plane, its Nick from Pogoplug!"

Back at the office on Monday our resident photographer, Peter shares his folder of photos with the team using Pogoplug - check out the slide show here.  Now we can re-live our adventure wherever we go, whenever we want.  Thanks for the memories everyone!
