New features coming to your Pogoplug, tonight!

Today we are happy to add some great new features to Pogoplug!

With game console support, Pogoplug owners can now easily access, share, and stream their media directly to their Xbox 360 or PS3 from any local or remotely located Pogoplug. Gamers can watch home movies from their Pogoplug connected external hard drive on their Xbox 360 or PS3, share slideshows or listen to their entire music library without ever putting down their game controller. The Xbox 360 or PS3 automatically sees the drives connected to the Pogoplug and the contents of other shared Pogoplugs.

Active Copy enables users to backup folders on their computer to a Pogoplug connected drive. Whenever new files are added, or changes are made to an existing file within the Active Copy enabled folder, these files are automatically copied to a chosen destination folder. Now users can also use Active Copy to automatically backup key files from one Pogoplug to another off-site Pogoplug, for additional safety and redundancy.

Both features came from user requests and both update to all Pogoplugs worldwide via an automatic firmware upgrade beginning tonight.

That's so great! What version number is this update so I can know if it's done?

March 17, 2010 4:22 AM

@Thomas - the version number will be 2.1.0

March 17, 2010 9:18 AM

Thank you Jon. This is really an awesome community. I wish more products were backed so passionately.

The new interface is slick, waiting for 2.1.0!

Does the new firmware fix Active Copy so it 'syncs' a file to the newest version between pogo and primary drive? Right now I have a few files that I would like to update remotely (by accessing my pogo), but I can't b/c the updated Pogo version will be overwritten by the 'old' version on the primary PC drive. This would be so helpful to fix. I really could never figure out a use case for wanting active copy to write over a Pogo drive file with an older version (which is what happened when you remotely accessed the Pogo to update a file w/o changing the filename).

I'm still running 2.0.3, are you still updating plugs?

Danno said: Great! So now Wardrivers trolling my neighborhood can load the old Xbox inthe car and access my media. Nice and secure. I know, before all you basement-dwelling computer gurus tell me my network should be secure, I respond in advance by pointing out that the Pogo is adsvertised as
The patch notes say that you can go into the settings and disable the media server.

Still waiting on 2.1, any updates?

March 19, 2010 5:46 PM

jon, any chance the new firmware will fix the IE7 problem with settting up a shared user?

March 19, 2010 6:00 PM

Afraid not - that is a bug in the browser / web code not the firmware. We will be releasing a patch to the website next week which will fix that problem, tho.

I still don't have the update. I assume it is going out to original (white) plugs as well as the new pink ones, right? I have a white one.

Is there anything we can be doing to speed up the upgrade process?

March 21, 2010 7:32 PM

@Gunderstorm - original plugs are definitely going to be updated. If you haven't been updated by tomorrow morning, please send in a ticket to our support team.
