If you've had the pleasure of owning or trying out a Cloud Engines Pogoplug, it almost seems like magic.  Things like sharing files online and accessing your files from any computer you own over the Internet used to be quite difficult... and at a minimum require you to edit confusing settings on your router and cross your fingers, hoping it works every time.

The Pogoplug changes all that, but how exactly does it do it?  We don't know about you, but we were super curious... Om Malik from GigaOM was too!  He recently spoke with the CTO of Pogoplug, Brad Dietrich, to get the full scoop on the inner workings of this fantastic sharing device - including the OS it's running, how it keeps your data secure, and what exactly happens when Pogoplug is connected to the Internet.
