Great update

Hi Peter,

By far the best device yet. Still, it's dificult to me to realize which model fits my needs.
Some desired features are:
1. Streaming video from my home LinkSys NAS (static IP) over the Internet (in a different country).
2. Streaming DVD type movies (prefferable with menus).
3. Saving the video files on the client during streaming (for later play back).
4. User friendly remote control, with backlit.
5. Fanless or fan off during standby.
6. Access to a full technical documentation and specs.

Thank you

Hi,
I have a new Pogoplug Pro and have it working...all but the Wireless. The unit cannot find ANY of the wireless networks available. I tried to enter the home wireless network manually but it still can't find the network. What should I do?

Peter,

I may have a business application that may work through a PogoPlug Pro. We need to share large files with a customer. We have a corporate network and a couple Windows 2003 file servers. We have an FTP server in place, but presently the customer expects everything aslarge email attachments (sent to many people). I'm interested in moving these files to the 'cloud'. What do you recommend?
Thanks, John

Hi John--great question. Pogoplug sounds like a great fit for you as it easily enables the sharing of large files. It doesn't send email attachments; rather, the Pogoplug service emails a link to the folder or file to download it.

In fact, the VP of sales/marketing for Pogoplug uses it in a very similar way:

http://www.pogoplugged.com/article/15840/Interview-With-Jeff-Fochtman-VP-of-S...

Also, as far as moving to the cloud--in essence, you're not really moving anything at all, which is the cool part. Pogoplug merely acts as a secure gateway to your files rather than uploading them to an external server, meaning your files are safe and sound on your own personal storage.

Being new to pogoplug I was wondering if there were any differences between the different color units. This is because on your website there are not color choices, yet retailers have color choices. Also the Pro is not listed as a option to purchase. Thank you.

I bought the pogoplug device & am having a hard time understanding why it's necessary if I can just use my computer connected as a cloud. Why do I need the device then?

I need clients to upload large amounts of files (sometimes 10GB worth of images & files) to me & vice versa. I understand how I can share with them, but can my clients upload to my cloud?

Thanks!

I serve most of my media from an old workhorse G5 running OSX 10.5.8.

Will you get around to supporting that with your premium software??

I still have multiple machines (personal) not running 10.6.

Hope you include a USB 3.0 port...

I love my PogoPlug Pro. Today I got an email about a PogoPlug Mobile. How is this different from my Pro? Does it connect to my network or do I carry it around with me?

This should be updated to include Cloud Engine's current offerings. "Pogoplug Classic"(same thing as former pogoplug pro?), "Pogoplug Mobile", and "Pogoplug Cloud"

Thanks for the reminder! With all the changes it can be hard to keep up :) I'll get this updated soon.

No mobile?

Oversight on my part. I replaced Mobile with V4. I will update as this was an error.

UPDATE: Should be complete now.

Can you please, please, please add the following rows?

Internal Processor
Internal RAM
Linux Kernel
Linux OS Version

This is essential information which is often being left out for those slightly more technical and looking for

The only thing additional I really need that my current Pogo Plug Pro doesn't have is the ability to have a custom look and feel so that customers can see it branded from me. Does this require an entire new unit just for UI? Biz edition?

Hi All
in looking at the comparison chart i have a few questions
1) it says you "cannot" Add Separate Multiple Users, thought you were suppose to be able to share your files with as many as you wanted and give them read or read/wright access?

2) the pro version "wireless" can connect direct to my wireless router, wirelessly??

3) do i have to have internet access to connect to my drives when i am at home on the same LAN??

4) if i have files on a drive that i connect to the pogoplug, will it recognize them, or do i need to start with a fresh format on the drive

The difference with the Biz and it should probably say is that you can add multiple admins for specific folders. They all allow you to give users read or read/write access.

2) the pro version "wireless" can connect direct to my wireless router, wirelessly??

Yes, if you can find it. I believe it is discontinued.

3) do i have to have internet access to connect to my drives when i am at home on the same LAN??

Yes

4) if i have files on a drive that i connect to the pogoplug, will it recognize them, or do i need to start with a fresh format on the drive

It will find all your files so you don't need to start with a fresh drive.

Yes

Does it encrypt the data on the drives connected to it, in the event of temporary internet loss I can just unplug the USB drive and direct connect it to my computer correct??

Thanks Brandon for all you help
