Review of Pogoplug Web UI 2.2.0 Updates: Email Sharing, Document Previews, and More
Categories: Pogoplug Hardware
Pogoplug has added several useful productivity features to the newest web client update, v2.2.0, rolled out on June 1st. Here's your guide to taking advantage of your Pogoplug's new capabilities!
Sharing via Email
Sometimes, you just need to be able to send files easily through your email client, and now Pogoplug has that ability. An example where this might come in handy is when you aren't able to access external webpages due to a firewall or other restriction. Here's how to send files to your 'Plug via email.

Head to the General Settings section and click on the new checkbox, "Upload my email attachments to."

You'll be presented with a dialog box in which you can choose the folder where you would like your emailed files to be placed. I created a specific folder just for this purpose, but you could put them anywhere you like.

Now, send an email to "upload@mypogoplug.com" from your Pogoplug account address with the files attached.

Shortly, the file should appear in your designated directory. That's all you need to do!
Document Previewing
Another great feature of this new update is the ability to preview documents from directly within the My.Pogoplug web application.

Above, you will see a PDF file being displayed in the interface, complete with controls in the upper right hand corner allowing you to zoom and perform other functions.
You can see a full listing of the formats supported here.
Sign-In for Email Shares
This is a very simple feature to take advantage of. Simply head to the "Security Settings" menu.

Check the box shown above, "Require sign-in to view email shares." That's it! Now, people to whom you have shared files via email will be required to sign in with their Pogoplug password before they are allowed to view the file.
What do you think of these new Pogoplug features? Try them out and comment below!
I apologize, that could have used a little more clarification on my part, and I changed the article title to reflect this. Thanks for pointing this out.
2.1.2 is still the current firmware version - the changes are in the Web UI, which is now 2.2.0.
