Pogoplug Usecase: Going Professional With Your Pogoplug
Categories: Pogoplug Hardware
If you haven't yet heard of the Pogoplug, or this is your first time to the community, check out my review to see what it's capable of. In a nutshell, it's the perfect solution for creating your own "data cloud," allowing you to easily share photos and other digital goods over the Internet without storing those files on someone else's servers. (There's a lot more to it, of course, so make sure to read the review if you're unfamiliar.)
We're finding, though, that more and more people are using the Pogoplug for business. Beneath that bright pink exterior lies some serious power and utility. Imagine your Pogoplug in business attire, and let's explore how the powers of Pogoplug can be leveraged in your work life.
Scenario 1: Working from Home
These days, tons of people are working from home (or Starbucks, or Panera, and so on.) I mean, it just makes sense, with the price of gas, tough economic times, and the fact that mobile warriors can pretty much do anything from anywhere.
So, having a Pogoplug at home should make your boss happy. Need to share a file? No need to bog down email with big attachments, just share a link to a folder on your Pogoplug. Your private, sensitive work info won't get lost on someone else's server, and your co-workers can have "any time" access to your shared files.
Scenario 2: Small to Medium Size Business Use
Another perfect scenario is for small to medium size businesses, with employees that work closely together. Pogoplug allows you to easily share a folder of files that need to be accessed by everyone, such as timesheets, schedules, etc.
Scenario 3: Photographers
Here's a more unique use for the Pogoplug. Photographers can share their images with clients, easily, via the Pogoplug. It has a built-in image viewer and slideshow, so clients can easily page through uploaded images and quickly give their feedback and approval. A real estate photographer has even blogged about using it as a "photo delivery system."
Scenario 4: Designers and Creatives
In very much the same way, artists and other digital creatives can easily share drafts of their artwork and designs over Pogoplug, either to a team of co-workers or to clients.
Scenario 5: Writers
If you're a journalist, blogger, or writer - you know how much of a pain it can be to synchronize all of your documents, snippets, notes, and supporting documents. Furthermore, you might have a desktop at work, a laptop for working remotely, a mobile phone, and so on. The Pogoplug is an ideal solution for you to store all of your sensitive and secret documents and projects, but have them accessible from anywhere, on any device.
Scenario 6: Musicians
Of course, the Pogoplug can easily share photos and other files, but it also has a sweet built-in music player. This is great for personal use (I've talked many times about how I use my iPhone to stream my whole music library from anywhere) but why not for professional musicians?
You can easily share snippets of songs in progress via the Pogoplug and play them through a simple interface, allowing musicians who are collaborating remotely or preparing tunes for clients to easily show off and discuss their work.
The Possibilities are Endless...
I could go on and on, but seriously, there are tons more ways that the Pogoplug can be used in a professional environment. I'd love to hear your comments below... how are you using the Pogoplug for work?
